Post Feeling Left out!

Hello peeps is new to this but having read some of the posts on this board I fell quite left out!
I WANT TO BE FROM ESSEX TOO! !
no really there seems to be a lot of you!

anyway while i am saying my hellos to you all i have a couple of questions
  • Is there anyone from up north - north cheshire?
  • What is metformin? a lot of you cysters seem to be taking it and i was wondering what it was and what it does!
  • Can I be an honorary (spelling?) essex girl i'm sure i could find some white shoes and a blond wig - not permanent i do not look good blond!

that is all is feeling a lot better now i know there are other people out there with the same hormonal oddities as me!

oh while i remember can anyone recommend a good low carb diet! everyone seems to be doing really well on them and it is one of the few diets i haven't tried!

ta

Hi Suzi, another northerner here! I'm from Bradford, Yorkshire. Metformin is diabetic medicine which can help PCOSers with insulin resistance.

I follow the Atkins low carb diet, but they are all much the same - start really low carb (20-30 grams per day) and stick to it for 2 weeks. Then you can increase the carbs a little. Look on the net, there is loads of info. Good luck!

Hi Suzi!!!
Well as sum1 who lives in 'essex' i think u could be an honourary essex girlie hehe!!! Although i dont know if i have any white stilettos u could borrow (well u have to laugh really) hehe!! Well i follow the Glycemic index diet as it excludes less 'food' types and is specifically for keeping blood sugar levels stable. Theres a good book on it called GI Plus: The Glucose Revolution. Its good for me as if i low carb too much i dont feel so good...so this is a kinda moderate 'diet' that seems quite sensible to me. AS for Metformin its used for diabetics and people woth insulin resistance (which most ppl with PCOS have-as it seems to be the underlying cause). I would ask ur dr for an insulin resistance test or/and a fasting glucose test to ascertain whether u have it or not. I do know its good for PCOS'ers who are overweight also.
Hope this helps!!
let me know if u need a blond wig!!
hehehe

Welcome to the Essex Gal Gang!!! I have no white stilettos, hand bags etc!!

I am currently on Metformin - it helps:
to regulate your periods,
get rid of facial hair
and helps with weight loss.

I am on the Slimming World plan - but only Original (red) Days. Which is basically low carb.

Feel free to mail me any time, welcome to soulcysters!

I just love all this Essex banter .....hey join my Essex Girls post...white stilettos and all!!! hehehe!!!! I would quite like to be called Honorary Essex Girl actually...shall we start a club...hehehe

Soz, but can't advise you on the Metformin, I am taking nothing, just the odd nurofen for period pains...when they come........???

I went on a low carb diet a few years back, it was really to get me eating again, but I would only eat if it was healthy, I still managed to loose over a stone in about 3 weeks, plus I was exercising like mad at the time.....if you want to know what I was eating let me know....

Take Care

See You Around..
