Unhappy Feeling Overwhelmed

Hi everyone,

I was just told yesterday that I have PCOS. My first reaction was excitement and relief to know that there was something specifically wrong with me and I wasn't just fat and unable to concieve. But now, I am feeling scared and overwhelmed with all the different information out there. My other issue is that my Gyn. diagnosed this 2 years ago after some blood work was done, but nobody contacted me by phone or told me in my visits in the years following for my annual pap- it wasn't until a follow up pap smear yesterday that another doctor in the practice went through my files and asked me what I was doing about the PCOS (??!!). She put me on metformin and will do a number of infertlity tests this month, but I am so confused about how many tests I am going to be doing and what they're supposed to do. I would love to find another doctor but I'm staying with her since she's now treating me for this. I'm turning 36 this month, I'm afraid time may be running out for me to have babies

I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense- it's all just overwhelming. Thanks for letting me just vent this, I'm just feeling so lost and am trying to understand this all

Hi there! No worries about venting...it's natural to feel overwhelmed, especially when a doc pulls a stunt like not informing you of something like this. Anyways, don't worry about being overwhelmed. There's so much to process right now, you're going to be. Just take a deep breath, and go slowly. This forum is golden for info and guidence. I would also reccommend getting a book. There's a forum that reccommends several good ones. Basically, the more info you have, the less overwhelmed you'll be...as long as you don't try to absorb it all at once! :-)

I live in the same location as you. Lovely rain we're having lately, eh? Stay dry, and I'll talk to you later!
