Unhappy Feeling overwhelmed..

Hi Ladies..

My Dr just called me today, to say that my IR test are high enough to dx me with Diabetes II..

I feel so scared She said that if I lose weight and exercise, and take Metformin I COULD get this undercontrol which is great news.

Im just looking into taking a Diabetes workshop etc..

I bought The New Glycemic Index book, I just cant get my head around all this info..

sorry to vent.. I didnt know anyone else who could relate.

Blessings

I know that for me it was all very overwhelming when I was first diagnosed especially since I was diagnosed with diabetes first then PCOS later. I cried all the way home from the dr's office thinking my life was over as I knew it, but that all changed. I got in touch with my body, and got knowledge about the diabetes, and I am happy to say that my blood sugar is under very good control 4 years almost to the day I was first diagnosed!

The key is not to let the word scare you too much, just enough to treat it seriously. Some people go overboard one way or just shrug and think it's nothing to worry about. It is important, too, to realize that it takes time, and effort. You change the way you eat, think, but not necessarily the way you live. I won't say you won't have some depressed or frustrated times, but it gets better once you see your test results improving.

It was actually a relief for me to find out that somehting was wrong with me since I had been feeling so horrible for so long. Don't let it all overwhelm you, take a nice long breath and delve into it but don't let it consume you!

And feel free to rant here any time!

Please hang in there. things will get better. it can be overwhelming, but just take things slowly. support groups can be very helpful because you can get ideas and tips from the other folks.

chin up - keep researching and asking question...

Good luck! I know you will be able to ease into this. It just takes time. Don't panic if it isn't going well right off and don't feel bad if you fall of the wagon now and then! It happens!
