Unhappy Feeling pretty down...

I am feeling pretty down right now. I am not sure what it is...

I went to the doctor today, and I had another vaginal ultrasound done. The Met I was on was not working (giving me headaches, flu-like symptoms, spotting, sour stomach, etc), so she wanted to see what we could do. The lining of my uterus is really thick, so she thinks it would be best if I go on Prometrium to induce another period (just had one 4 weeks ago, and it was really bad - bleeding through a super tampon and a pad every hour for days). After we induce the period, she would like to have me go on Fortamet to try to control the PCOS. She says that we ultimately may have to put me on BCPs.

My husband had a vasectomy last year. One of the reasons we did that is because we knew that we only could afford two children, and that I didn't want to have to be on BCPs for the rest of my life. I do not want to have to go on BCPs... They make me moody, give me bad headaches, and cause me to gain weight!

I am really struggling right now... I can't pinpoint why I am feeling so low, just that I am. Maybe it's the fact that I have been working SO hard to get my PCOS under control naturally (diet and exercise), and now I still have to be on medication. Maybe it's that I can't get rid of this headache, and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. I am not sure, but I am really low. Just needed to lean on my cysters for a while...

Hang in there honey.
I couldn't take Met either, and my GYN put me on Actos. Have you all talked about it? It's been great with no side effects. I still take BCP, but that's partly because I have no problem starting AF, just stopping. LOL.
I'll be praying for you sweetie.
Hugs

Ohhh, hun I'm so sorry. Of course you would be sad. It's disappointing when we try so hard to do something and we feel like we failed. You have not failed. Failing is when you don't even try. And you did try. It's not your fault. And whatever you do, don't give up. Things will get better. I hope you feel better.

We are always here to support you. You have made great achievements already, and you should be very proud of yourself! That said, PCOS sucks, we all know it and it gets us all pretty down sometimes. But you are doing so much to battle it, please don't give up. Look into all possible options, do your research, don't just take the word of your doctor as gospel. You need to be comfortable with your treatment. I hope things feel better for you soon. Like I said, we are ALWAYS here for you.

Thank you for your prompt responses... As I am sitting here pondering downing another ice cream bar, which would put me over my daily points for Weight Watchers, your words are so encouraging that I think I can stave it off. I think you all were right - I have been fighting this PCOS, and was determined that I could beat it myself. I did sort of feel like a failure today. I will get through this, just another stepping stone! Thank you all so much. I can't say this is the last you will hear of my sadness, but I am feeling better knowing you are all in similar boats!

God Bless You All,
Allsmiles

I am so sorry you have to be going through this....I too have bad periods and my husband also got a V, but I am on BCP right now to help with the bleeding ---long story short I don't like the chemicals in me and my body is not responding well to the meds. Anyways, my sister is an OB/GYN and she recommended the following www.novasure.com she said this would be a great option since we know we are done having children and she has seen great success with her patient--in some cases the women stop their periods all together!!!! I can only dream!!!!!

Try to stay positive, thats what everyone tells me, and I get down quite frequently. Sometimes just try to push it all out of your mind, ya might be hard, but sometimes you need the break as well.
