You eat 15 grams of fast acting carb and wait 15 minutes. If you still don't feel better go another 5 grams of fast acting carb and wait 5 minutes, and so on.
Fast acting carbs would be:
regular soda
fruit juice
glucose tablets
frosting
something that is low in fat, as little protein and fiber as possible.
Don't give in to the temptation to keep eating until you feel better or you'll end up shooting your blood glucose waaaaay up there and then seesawing back and forth the rest of the day.
For the next sonogram bring a meal bar or shake or something with you to drink once you're done the sonogram. What happened is that your blood glucose went too low. Chances are your liver dumped some glucose into your blood stream to prevent hypoglycemia (a liver dump). Not eating with GD, or diabetes, is just as bad as eating too much.....worse, actually.
I buy the little tubes of glucose tablets at the pharmacy and have them everywhere....the glove box, my purse, bedside table, etc. But then, I've tested in the 40's a few times and twice in the 30's....that's enough to scare a person good!!!
