Although I was just diagnosed with PCOS in June, I've been dealing with some of the symptoms for awhile now. A LONG while. I understand that the common symptoms are acne, hirsutism, oily skin, IR, AN, etc. However, I've been feeling run down, tired, and achey in either my muscles and joints for a long time. I actually can't remember time when I didn't feel this way. Are these symptoms associated with PCOS? I have a 4 y.o. daughter, and a 2 y.o son and I have a difficult time trying to keep up with them. Very active kids. Just wanted to know if anyone else feels this way. Could this be PCOS related or something different? Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts
I have days were i feel really tired too. An days were i just dont want to do anything at all. The only cure ive found for that is even though u dont want to go for a nice walk just a 5 or 10 minute walk an after a few days of doin it ull feel great. If u have a husband get him to watch the kids while u have a nice time out an if u have a dog even better cos u can do the dog walk everynight an get the kids to stay with ur husband. If u feel this wont help go an see ur GP it could b ur suffering a little bit with depression which is also a symptom of PCOS.
I agree with Jnswd. Have your thyroid checked to see if you have hypothyroid.
I also think this might be connected to IR. Since the IR practically compels you to eat too much sugar, this can result in a "eat sugar, crash, eat more sugar" cycle that might be connected to your fatigue. See if you can cut down on the sugar (if not eliminate it totally) to see if this helps.

Thanks for the responses! As far as depression goes, I'm on Lexapro and I feel like I have that under control. Also, I believe my thyroid levels were checked and everything looked good there. I haven't yet been tested for IR so I suppose sugar drops could have something to do with it. I dunno, PCOS seems to effect every other aspect of my life so I guess I just figured it might cause the fatigue too.
Right now, the only Dr. I'm going to is my Gyn. I'm looking for a GP who is knowledgeable with PCOS and my Gyn. is going to help me find one covered under my insurance. Should I find an Endo. too? How many doctors does it take to effectively treat PCOS? I'm overwhelmed...
I have days like that too. I agree that the walking and fresh air help. Another suggestion is to add a good multi-vitamin to your daily meds if you haven't already. Having two young ones can be exhausting in itself, so I'm sure that your body could use the little boost.
As far as my treatment, I only go to a gp and gyn.

I think it really depends upon your doctors' skill sets. For example, I'm working with a GP and a naturopath because of the regimen that I've chosen to use over Metformin. If I were to go the Metformin route, I would work exclusively with my GP, but that's because I'm confident in her ability to treat PCOS.
