I was put on Met about a month ago, at first, I had so much more energy, like I did years ago before my symptoms got bad. I woke up and wanted to do things, and I didn't need a nap half way through the day. However, I've noticed in the last week I have been getting pretty tired again. I am not as tired as I was before I started Met, but also not as energetic as when I first started. Did this happen to anyone else? Do most doctors up the dosage based on blood work, or symptoms? I was so excited to have the energy back, so Im hoping that a simple increase in my dosage will help! I see the doctor in 2 weeks. Thanks for your help!
What dose are you on? I was initially put on 500 mg and experienced the same side effects as you are and then lowered to 250 mg. I have since stopped taking met. due to the GI discomfort.
Yup, you need to be taking B-12 while on Met. I can't remember exactly what happens, but Met messes with your B-12 levels. That's why you are feeling more tired. It will likely get worse, not better, with the increased dosage.

Thanks everyone for your input! My doctor has put me on 500mg for now, until I see her again and can have more blood work done. She didn't mention what dosage I would end up at. I am not taking a daily multi vitamin, I haven't found one that didn't make me sick, I just throw them up for some reason. And I actually have a list of questions for my doctor, and one of them is if I should be on a B-12 supplement. I've read many posts about it. I didn't know that low B-12 levels could cause fatigue. Hopefully that is all it is, and I can continue taking Met along with a B-12 supplement, with the exception of the recent fatigue, I feel so much better on the Met! Thanks for your help ladies!
If you want to also help your B vitamin levels, you can start munching on b-vitamin rich fruits : blueberries, blackberries, etc. Basically all the dark fruits. It's not a replacement for multivitamins but it should help some. Works for me..

my doctor put me on met 500 i'm on it for almost a month now thr first 2-3 weeks it was a drag i felt tired didnt want to do anything no energy i couldnt sleep at night and only slept at least 2-3 hours a day but now i guess it needs to kick in i feel a lil bit better some energy and sleeping during tha night the only thing is that if i eat too much or greasy foods it doesnt do me good is this normal has anyone experienced this 2
I get tired off and on. Last week I increased my dose to 1000 mg, and I had several days where I was just dragging. I've been taking b12 since I started the met, but sometimes I still get tired. Like all of the side effects though, so far it's decreased as I keep taking it. I'm coming up to 2 weeks since I started and aside from the tiredness and a little GI stuff, I've been fine.
the only thing is that if i eat too much or greasy foods it doesnt do me good is this normal has anyone experienced this 2
Totally normal, although different foods trigger different responses in everyone. Greasy foods, white bread, and fatty meats get me. There is a post on here where others have shared there 'trigger' foods.
