Default Feeling "weird" after 2hr glucose test

I'm new to this site. I have a question for those who have taken the insulin resistance glucose test. Today I went in for the 2hr blood gluecose test (the one where they make you drink the orange glucose drink. Tastes horrible) after they took my blood and gave me the glucose drink, I waited around for two hrs and went back to the clinic for another blood draw. Afterward the doctors said it was okay for me to eat so my room mate and I went and got some food nearby. We were walking down the street eating, and by the time I was done, I was feeling terrible. I was experiencing light headedness, my limbs were tingling, I was sweating and I thought I was going to pass out. I could barely finish the walk home without feeling "drunk". I got home and lay in bed and passed out asleep. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and maybe to hear if anyone had an explanation for this or if this is a normal reaction? I would really appreciate any help thank you.

i felt exactly the same way after my test...it was horrible. the lady who did the test was surprised i didn't take the day off! if i'd known, i would have. i was totally freaked out that i'd reacted so badly to the test, but my test results came back normal and i'm not IR.

Yay! what you experienced was called a hypo. Your body was overloaded with sugar, went too high, and then crashed causing all those nasty side-effects. I had reactive hypoglycemia (what you experienced) for years before I became a pre-diabetic. My numbers were just never high enough. Sorry you experienced that... the best way to stay away from that is avoiding sugar and eating a well balanced diet. I was told to go home and eat something with protein and fat in it to reduce those side-effects.

    hi
sorry to hear that you had such problems.when mine was done the only problem i had was in the drawing of blood. i had fine veins according to the nurse so they had to poke me here and there to get my blood. after the final poking i got light headed..i guess you get that when they make you into a human pin cushion HAHAHA!!!
