Unhappy Feeling wierd

Hi all,

I've been on Met for a couple of weeks now and have started feeling really strange - like I'm not really here, floaty and tired. I've tried eating snacks in case it's low blood sugar but nothing helps. I'm on 1500mg of Met XR.

does anyone know what this is and what to do please?

Thanks,

Felix

Hi there, I experienced the same side affect when using met, but after about a month it got better. Although, every now and then I find myself feeling like that again, but it will pass after a few days. Its crappy I know, but I suppose we got to live with the side effects so that we can get better

Sounds like low blood sugar. Eat small meals regularly and make sure you're not severely restricting your carbs. Keep your sugars balanced and eat lots of protein and it helps a lot.

Good luck!

Your body goes through an adjustment period where you feel like your sugar is low, but it's really now. Your body has to get used to the new levels of insulin. It lasted about two weeks for me and hasn't returned.

Thanks for the replies and the reassurance.

I am confused now. I thought I had read somewhere on the board that Met doesn't cause low blood sugar. Can anyone clarify this for me please???

Also, should I continue to eat low carb? My doctor has advised that I eat low carb/GI but I'm wondering now if this is causing this horrid wierdness

I hope this feeling passes as I am having problems functioning,

felix

It doesn't low blood sugar provided that you eat enough carb for your new, more-efficent insulin using body to work on. If you eat to little, you'll go hypo.

People on met tend to need a bit more carb than their non-medication counter-parts. I tried doing the low-carb thing and I felt like I could sleep on the lino all day.
