I have used Letrozole my last four cycle with injectibles. Each cycle I have ovulated. Letrozole works the same way as clomid but unlike clomid does not have the problems with thin uterus lining.
It has not been approved for infertility but many doctors are prescribing it now instead of clomid

My RE told me the same thing. She said that also unlike clomid , letrozole doesn't build up in your system and keep working after the cycle. It's one cycle of letrozole then that's it you start fresh. She also said that a lot of women who are clomid resistent have better results with letrozole. I'm just hoping to find a few stories out there about successful pregnancies on letrozole/femara? Anyone??

Thanks and baby dust to all!

I have a success story for you with letrazole......

I took clomid for several years off and on with no results. Then about 2 years ago, my OB/GYN (who keeps up with all of the newest treatments for PCOS) told me about letrazole and the studies being done with PCOS patients...letrazole was very successful for women who were resistant to clomid, which I certainly was. So we tried it, and on the second cycle I became PG. Today we have a beautiful healthy little girl who will be a year old next month. My DH and I were TTC for 13 years before our little princess came along, so it's been a long road. But letrazole was the key for me. I highly suggest it to anyone who has not had success with clomid. And it's very inexpensive...mine was only $18 per cycle!!!!!!! It sure beats the price of invitro, ect......Also, I had NO side effects from this drug. Whenever I would take clomid, I was CRABBY and miserable. The letrazole helped to balance out my hormones so that the egg would grow to full maturity and be healthy.

I am going to be 40 this year and my DH is 42. We were at the point where we thought we'd never have a baby after trying for so long. So I'm hoping that our story encourages anyone who reads it to know that it's worth trying other options and not to give up.

Sincerely,

Cyster Wendy

P.S. If you look up letrazole on the internet, maybe try "letrazole fertility" or "letrozole infertility". There are infertility/fertility clinics that are also using this drug and some give explainations about it on their sites. And I have seen "letrazole" spelled two different ways...letrazole and letrozole (also letrizole).

Well, this is my first time with Femara, and I went and had an U/S today and I have a 20 mm follie on the right side. I literally just gave myself the HCG injection, so I should O in about 24 hours. I did Gonal-f for about 6 months, 10 amps a day and the biggest follie I got was 14. So, a 20 is outstanding for me. I won't know to much for about 2 weeks, but I will be bd'ing like crazy. Good luck, and I will let you know how it turns out. By the way.. I was a crazy psycho on clomid and I just could not think about taking that stuff ever again. Femara..nothing, no s/e really. One day I was a bit flushed, that was it.

This is my 2nd cycle of Femara (Letrozole). I did not have any success w/the 1st cycle of 2.5mg cd3-7. But this cycle, we increased the dosage to 5mg cd3-7 & I ovulated on cd15. I am not being monitored this cycle. Only OPK, BBT, & P4 check today. Today is cd22. I feel pretty good about this cycle. I have heard so many positive things about this med. The side effects are nothing like Clomid at all. I always responded to Clomid & succeeded once on clomid but it ended in m/c. So, we thought we would give Femara a try. Good luck to you.

I have another success story for you. After trying Met/Gluc alone, Met/Gluc with Clomid, and adding injectionables, we switched from Met/Gluc to Actos and added Femara. I conceived on the first try.

We now have a healthy baby boy who's almost 4 months old!

hi ladies..well thanks for the encouragement! I definalty need it. This waiting 2 weeks to test is for the birds I swear. I am just about to test, even though it has only been 4 days...lol. Well, 6 since the trigger. I just have never been so impatient in my whole life I don't think. I just have to keep remembering that one cycle is not enough. There is always next month and maybe if this one doesn't work, we can double it like Nita and see where it goes. Grrrrrr! : ) Nisha- your lil boy is beautiful!

baby dust!

Can anyone look at my chart and tell me what is going on with it? Why did it go up again? and is that a good thing or a bad thing?
