My doctor prescribed Femara 2.5 mg on cycle days 3-7. I did ovulate on 50mg of Clomid, but the side effects were unbearable and I ended up having a m/c when I did get pregnant... so she said to give Femara a try. Anyway, I was just curious as to the starting dose for most people... anyone else start out with only 2.5 mg (for 5 days)? If so, did it make you ovulate? I know a lot of people are taking 5 mg and I asked my doc if I could start on that dose, but she said to start low and see if it worked before working up to 5 mg... argh!

My femara dosage was 2.5 this month.
I think they probably start off slow because the dangers of hyperstimulation. I had two nice follies.
Man that trigger shot really has affected my mood! | |

Did your doctor also prescribe follistim and a HCG trigger? That is what we did...our first round of injectables. Now I am in the dreaded 2ww. | |

No... just the Femara along with Metformin. I actually did O on Clomid without a trigger shot, so she probably hopes I will do the same on the Femara.

My doc started me on 5mg Femara per day from cd3-7 along with Metformin (500mg first week, 1000mg starting second week). I'm not being monitored at all. The doc recommends a laparascopy/hysteroscopy if I don't get pregnant after 3 cycles of this. Wish me luck! | |

2.5 for me also CD 3-7. This is my first cycle so I am hoping that I will ovulate on this dosage. Good luck to you!

My obgyn is prescribing Femara. I think it depends on the obgyn, though. My old one wouldn't prescribe Femara but would prescribe Clomid.

I forgot to put 2.5 on days 3-7. I liked that I wasn't as hormonal like I was on clomid. Which was a plus in our book  | |

I'm starting 5mg on days 3-7 of my next cycle. My gyn said that DRs prescribe 2.5, 5 or 7.5 and he wanted to start in the middle with me.

My dr. started me on 7.5mg of femera for cd 5-9. This is my 3rd cycle so my doctor has put me on cd 5-9, I take the femera 7.5mg, then on cd 9-12 150mg of Gonal F, and finally on cd 13 the hcg. | |

My femara cycle was 2.5 mg on days 3-7. My current OB does prescribe it, but at that point, I had been with a different GYN who sent me to an RE. My RE did not even think about Clomid for me, apparently, he does not like it. It was the first time I O'd on my own!! No side effects...other than pregnancy!

I started with 5mg CD 3-7. On that dose I never O'd at all. They then moved me to 7.5mg CD 3-7, and although I O'd, my progesterone levels were too low. So, they then put me on 7.5mg CD 3-10. This one looks like it will be much better. It definately produced better follicles.

I have also been on Femera 2.5MG. I went through two clycles of it with the HCG shot. And no luck either time. I am also on Metformin 1600MG daily. I have noticed a few of you talk about seeing if you have any follies?? Well my doctor has never done that so I wonder if I should suggest next month??
