Default Femera/Letrozole Questions

Hi, first let me say I'm new here. I was diagnosed with PCOS in March of 08 and I have been on Clomid for the last five months. IT has completely dried out my CM now so my doctor has switched me to Letrozole. I have a few questions if you all don't mind!

How much was it? Where is the best pharmacy to get it (price wise) and did your insurance cover it? Also, is there any difference in Femara and Letrozole, or is it the same thing one is just the generic? Thanks in advance!

I'm interested in hearing the answer to these questions as well!

After a few unsuccessful rounds of Clomid, we are thinking of doing Letrozole (Femara) for a month before moving onto injectibles...

Hi girls!

I did my first cycle of Femara/Letrozole this month. They are the same thing. I got my Rx at Fred's Pharmacy(not sure if you have these) and surprisingly my ins. covered them. For 5 pills, I paid 13.40. Since they aren't really considered for infertility, the insurance co. should pay for them.

From everything I hear, the side effects are nothing compared to Clomid. My OB/GYN started me on Femara instead of Clomid because of the side effects. The only thing that I really noticed was headaches the first several days and I seemed to have a more painful ovulation(the day of and couple of days after.)

Good luck to the both of you!!!

I thought I would post an update on my exerience with Femara since my post I have taken it for the first time. My experience with Femara has been WONDERFUL. Honestly, no side effects at all like the Clomid. I did up to 150MG of Clomid, and while it did make me ovulate it completely dried up my CM and gave me what my doctor called "hostile mucus". This time, I have been doing a combo of Femara/Metformin and I have had 6 (yes six!) days of EWCM! Today is CD 16 and I finally got a +OPK and I still am having EWCM. This was my usual ovulation time on Clomid as well, so I guess it didn't affect it too much. I got the Femara at Target, it was $133 without insurance and I paid $33 for it with insurance.
