Question Fenugreek

Hiya, I recently heard that fenugreek is supposed to be a very good natural remedy for a variety of problems, including "female problems". I heard that it affects estrogen, but i can't remember how. I've looked it up on the net, including wikipedia, but all the info i can find concerns lactating mothers. I know that fenugreek is supposed to be really good for breastfeeding mothers, but i was wondering if it has any other use. I've checked out some of the stickys above too, but still nothing.
I'm not on a lot of meds at the moment and in two months time i will be totally off meds for at least three months. I have elevated testosterone levels (the affects of which annoy me most) and i really would love to find a way of dealing with my pcos without meds, especially as i have quite a mild version. So I'd like to know if there is anything that could be used to reduce testosterone levels.
Thanks!
Love Sarah

mild pcos can be rectified to a certain extent by using herbal meds that have a combination of vitex, dongquai and epo.

start with multi vitamins pref prenatals, vit b complex.

ususally a littel of vitaming n mineral shortage can upset our hormones.

fenugreek is also good for sugar control.......i am not sure but do check the site drugdigest.com
it gives you a full detail about the herbs/
also check out the healthnotes in gnc.com.it too gives u a breif say on the herbs.

i dont remember off hand but fenugreek should not be taken with certain herbs.will check on it and let you know.

Fenugreek is one of the ingredients in the weight loss suplement that I have been using, Called VivaSlim. Here is what the VivaSlim webpage says about Fenugreek,

"Fenugreek
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is one of the oldest known medicinal plants. Its dietary and medicinal uses date back to the ancient Egyptians. Fenugreek has always been valued for its health benefits - most commonly to manage diabetes and obesity. The most frequently used part of the Fenugreek plant is the seed, which is ground and used as a spice in variety of Indian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. Fenugreek’s excellent interfacial properties are very instrumental in managing the glucose response in diabetic patients. They are also helpful in reducing cholesterol levels (clinical studies have shown up to a 10% increase in HDL, or good cholesterol and a drop in LDL, or the harmful cholesterol). In addition, the ability to efficiently entrap fat suggests its efficacy as a weight loss supplement."

Fenugreek is an awesome herb for soothing mucous membranes (such as in the sinuses, bronchials, and lungs, as well as falopean tubes, ovaries and uterus - basically, anything that is hollow or needs to be moist). I take it anytime I get sick.

Fenugreek helps aid digestion, helping you get the most out of your food, which is why it is so good when trying to lose weight. BUT for the same reason, it is also used to treat anorexia because it helps the patients get the most out of their food, since they are so mal-nourished.

It stimulates pancreatic secretions, which makes it very good for diabetics, helps lower cholesterol, has lots of fiber, and helps to stimulate uterine contractions and promote breast milk production (it is also a mild laxative - for these reasons, shouldn't be taken by pregnant women until the very last week or so).

The reason it is beneficial to those of us with female issues is because it is anti-inflammatory, which is a big problem with PCOS. It also is used as a cervical cancer treatment in China, and has been studied with good results on liver cancer, too.

Wow, after doing a little research, I think I will start taking it every day, not just when I'm sick!
