Anyone else noticed the spate of magazine articles about Fern, saying she's size 16 and proud? It wouldn't bother me about someone fibbing about their size normally - if it was a minor fib or in a reasonable context... But in the context of articles saying she's *proud* of her size - why then not admit it?
Unless she's 4 foot tall, she can't be a size 16 surely? I'd have put her well in the 20s, if not 30 - and whatever size she is, I'd guess she's not just obese but morbidly obese... So why claim to be a 16? And in the context of things saying you're cool with your size, fat doesn't mean unfit, etc etc. I know TV is meant to put 10lbs on you - but I have an old friend who is an actor (no-one anyone's heard of, but he's on fairly often in different things) and he doesn't look an ounce fatter than in real life, so I don't buy that!
Am I just being catty? Is it just me? Does she look like a 16 to everyone else? (I don't want to develop body dysmorphia!) I wouldn't care what size any woman is in the media - more power to their elbows - but to have a blaze of publicity pretending to be a dozen dress sizes smaller than you are... not just one or two... what's that about?

I saw articles saying she was a size 16 and I couldn't see that myself either. I wouldn't like to say what size she is but I wouldn't say size 16. I'm a 16/18 (a bit of a 17 really, annoyingly!!). And I'd say she looks bigger than me!

i really love Fern Britton, but she is NOT a size 16, more like a size 18/20. I think she has degraded herself recently by doing those ryevita adverts, making out she is really thin band her size is a show for tv, if she was happy with her size she wouldn't be doing them.

I didnt know who she was but looked her up and in the images I saw I would say she does look around a 16, Im a 16 and she doesnt look too much bigger than me. I am not sure of how tall or short she is. I dont think she is any were near a 20 however. Maybe a 18 not more that that.

Also, just to mention Goddess4life, not sure if you mean US 16 or UK 16 which are a bit different although I'm not exactly sure how different but I know your 16's are bigger than ours.
However, she is wonderful, I love watching her & Phil on This Morning Those 'skinny' adverts annoy me though. Cleverly done but I guess she's just taking the micky out of herself or something, weird!
Did anyone watch This Morning the other day when they had the family of the teenage model that was murdered in Croydon in September? I balled my eyes out at that I do not know how she and Phil kept a dry eye conducting that interview

OK, I am a US cys but I love this type of thread so I Googled her, and she looks like a US 22 or so to me, so is that a UK 24?
Reminds me of when Camryn Manheim said she weighed 225 at 5'10" in some mag. I think she wears her size very well but I would put her closer to 280ish, at least at that time (when The Practice had been on a couple years.) Oh well, the magazine shouldn't have asked her weight anyway...how rude!
I remember the Nolan sister that used to do Fern's job (Colleen?) saying she thought she got sacked from that show because of her size - which never added up as Fern's considerably bigger than Colleen ever was - even at her largest!
I do hate the media pressure on us women to look more like skinny boys, than women - but I don't think Fern's adding to the debate by going on about being proud of her size and then blatantly lying about it! It must be very disheartening for women who are a size 16 for one thing, and I think I read somewhere it is close to the average British dress size, now...
Think the US sizes are a couple down from our's as when I lived in the states, I was thrilled to have *shrunk* to a size 8 - without having done a thing but change continents!

all the things ive read says shes a uk size 18,but i think she must be bigger as im a 16-18 and she does look much bigger, she still looks good tho and seems happy and good luck to her for completing the egypt bike ride (maybe this is where she got her size down to 16 lol)

i too read an article in the sunday paper magazine, where it was her husband sying that she was an 18, and absolutely perfect, he looks at her and thinks"wow shes so sexy"....thats all cool, but seeing her on telly, i thought she was larger than 18, but this article, had a picture of her in a bikini, and i did actually think she looked smaller, in the pic, than on tv

I can't really tell, but I watched This Morning for the first time yesterday and thought she looked like she'd lost a fair bit of weight. She was wearing scrubs visiting a hopsital and looked slimmer than normal.
