Exclamation Which fertility aid would you recommend for ttc?

We have been trying for almost a year( a yr in Jan.) and I've noticed alot of positive feedback on fertility aids such as Vitex,Ovulex,fertil-Aid,Fertility Blend etc...

I just would like to know which worked for you and a few details!

Xoxo,
Ashley

I think the company that makes ovulex went belly up though I can't find any details as to why. With both FertilAid and Fertility Blend I think the main most important active ingredient is the vitex - if you go to the FB website the vitex is the only one they show as being studied/proven to help. The other ingredients in their "proprietary blend" are, imo, just there as fluff. I would think a good multi-vite and a good vitex supplement would do you just as well and probably cost less than one of the fertility blends - I am taking the nature's way vregular vitex 400mg but think I should have started with Nature's Way femaprin instead.

I'm not expert, that's just my opinions...

I just started taking Vitex because I've heard nothing but good things about it, I'll let you know how it turns out!

Just a word of caution, if you are prone to depression Vitex can worsen it a lot. It happened to me and it was seriously scary. My herbalist told me to stop taking it. Maca works better for me, no depression issues .

Does anyone take Fertility Blend and metformin together and have any issues?

I myself never took the Fertility Blend. My DH did. I would assume that it would be okay (but don't take my word for it) because fertility blend is just a blend of vitamins that is supposed to help fertility. Maybe someone else can chime in here.

Wanted to comment on this lest it scare anyone off - I do have a history of depression and had read about this possibility with Vitex. But have been on vitex for ~2 weeks now and no problems - so it's not a given. Look for it and be aware of it but don't be scared off of it.

As for fertility blend and met - is fine to take them together. But FB or anything else with vitex should not be combined with any meds that directly cause ovulation - clomid, injections, etc.

My conception cocktail with DD1:

Metformin - 1500 mg/day
Vitex - 800 mg/day
Red raspberry leaf - 960 mg/day
Green tea extract - 150 mg/day
Fish oil - 1200 mg/day
Flax seed oil - 2000 mg/day
Folic acid - 400 mcg/day
Vitamin E - 400 I.U./day
Vitamin B12 - 1000 mcg/day
Multi vitamin
Baby aspirin

And some info on Vitex and RRL:

Vitex: Vitex works with your pituitary and hypothalamus glands to balance your hormones. It helps your body to balance on its own so that you can start having regular cycles and ovulate. It can take up to six months to respond to Vitex, but can also start working very quickly if there isn't much of an imbalance. There have been no reports of negative side effects of long term effects on the body. Should not be taken with Clomid.

Red Raspberry Leaf: RRL contains many nutrients including iron, calcium, vitamins C, E and A. It tones the uterus and helps to regulate cycles as well. Two to three cups of tea (or capsules) a day for two to three months can regulate your cycle. It can also help alleviate some of the symptoms of PMS including cramping. It is also beneficial to be taken during pregnancy as it will help strengthen and tone the uterus in preparation for labor, delivery and post-partum and reduce the risk of miscarriage. One pill should be taken during the first trimester, two during the second and three during the third.

I've tried Fertility Blend, and other supplements, but the pills were really large and too hard for me to swallow...just an F.Y.I. incase you're sensitive to swallowing larger pills. I'm sure it is fine for most people though!

I have been taking Fertilaid since November and have had 3 normal periods on my own (I never had periods on my own before). I also ovulated each month so it's working for me. Hopefully we'll get pregnant soon!

I don't take anything except Fertilaid so I know that is what made my periods come on my own:0)
