Default Fertility Blend for Men, Any Buddies?

I'm going to give this a try on DH. Anybody want to join me?

I think, regardless of our PCOS, we blame way too much of our infertility on ourselves. So I'm working on getting DH healthy.

Anybody with me?

i too will be getting some fertility blend for myself and hubby. he has a motility problem which could be caused by some meds he is taking but to be sure i said hey it's cheaper than meds. we plan to start in may and try it for at least 3 months.

have u already started? are u taking it as well?

well i'll be your buddy. i tried FB last year for 1 month and it helped my cm and my pms. i stopped because i started taking meds and never asked doc about combining the two. i go see doc monday and will ask about it first.

cbl!

No, just DH will be taking the Fertility Blend. I can't take it b/c it has vitex in it and vitex is not good to take if you have excess estrogen. I have excess estrogen b/c I'm very overweight. Fat cells have A LOT of estrogen. So the vitex could mess me up hormonally. I do take a prenatal and extra folic acid b/c now they say heavy women TTC should take add'l folic acid.

I had DH on all the vitamins (Selenium, zinc, B6, and so on) that were in "FB for Men" last year (except not the herbs) and we got PG 3X. I m/c'ed though.

Then I took clomid 3X while DH was off the vits and I didn't get PG at all. That's why I think the vits for men really work and are very underrated.

I need to hurry up and order. We will be BD'ing in the next 3 months and they want you to give it 3 months to kick in.

I'm also trying to lose weight b/c I think IR is what is causing me to m/c. That's my own opinion though not my Dr's.

Hopefully we will be seeing each other on the PG board soon!

i can vouch for your opinion on IR causing your miscarriages. are you on metformin? i know some women with PCOS who continued their metformin while pregnant and it helped them not miscarry. this was after they miscarried without the metformin/pregnancy mix. many docs won't want you to continue the metformin while pregnant but if you take then some info about why you should continue they usually change their minds. not to mention that it helps with weight loss and decreasing the rick of gestational diabetes WHEN you get preggo.

i am going to get the FB this weekend. so i will keep in touch with you and we can take this journey together.

Yeah, I was on 2000mg when I got PG (each time) and my Dr. wanted me to stay on it throughout the PGcies. I do totally credit the Met (and DH's vits) on getting me PG b/c I had over 2 years of secondary IF before I got on the Met.

Now if I could just stay PG.....

I'm not low carbing but I am on a low calorie, low glycemic diet. I guess my carbs are a little over 100g a day so I cannot qualify as low carb. Also I am walking 1 1/2 mile per day.

I'm definitely not eating any of the junk that I was last year. I haven't had fast food in over a month! Yay!

Did your Dr say you could combine the FB with the Met? Have you thought about taking Expecta? It has DHA suppplementation in it. I've started seeing it on the shelves and I know a lot of PG women are taking it. I keep meaning to post the ? on the TTC forum but I can't get on SC as much as I would like.

I ACTUALLY CONTACTED THE DAILY WELLNESS COMPANY AND THEY SAID YOU COULD TAKE FB(Sorry i just noticed all caps and don't feel like going back)with anything except fertility meds no side effectx.

when i took it last year my doc knew and said nothing but i will mention it to him again when i see him thursday.

i was thinking of starting low carb in may because it does help with weight loss and my blood work when i go to the doc for insulin checkup.

but i will be doing south beach because it is sooooo much easier than anything else because it's not really low carbing but good carbing. i did it before and lost 7 lbs. for some reason when i find something that works i stop. but i will continue until i reach goal this time.

great job on the no fast food!

i'm on day 4 of FB and so far so good.

cbl!

OMG, I just got DH's bottle in the mail and the pills are huge! He is totally going to balk. Why do they have to this? I swear I have taken some massive prenatals before but this is insane!

I've been digging around for some SBD recipes too. I tried it once and felt soooo deprived. Now I think I understand it a little better. It has a lot of emphasis on "low-glycemic" too which I think will be the next big thing. In fact the Atkins brand is revamping their whole program to be low-glycemic. So I guess we'll see.

Are the FB for women pills as big as the men's? Ack!!!! I'll let you know what DH says... but it probably ain't gonna be pretty!

i can't swallow big pills so i pull the capsules apart, dump it on my tongue and drink it down with orange juice. they aren't nasty at all. kinda taste like green tea. and yes the womens are that big. so tell hubby to take it apart and take it. it's the same thing.

i lost 1 lb this week!!!

my 1500 calorie diet is working along with the 30 mintues of exercise a day. my belly is looking so much smaller now.

hubby asked me about where his FB was yesterday so i am getting it for him tomm.

let me know what your hubby says about taking it.

Well, he didn't balk at the size. But he held up a nearly empty Monster Energy drink and said he'd have to wait until dinner to take the FB. Whatever! As long as he's getting something in him.

I really gushed on and on about how great it was just to take 1 vitamin instead of a handful and he agreed.

Congrats on your weight loss! You need to get a ticker going for inspiration. I know it really motivates me some days!

Also, my Met must be working. My insulin level is at 5! How awesome is that?!?! Now I have to work on my cholesterol level. I bought Expecta (that non-fish DHA source) today and am giving that a try. Hopefully it will help with my cholesterol issues and provide a good foundation for the future wee one!

well i went to go get hubby's fb and gnc was sold out! they ordered some for me i pick it up today.

i don't have to go see doc again for 6 months! he loved my weight loss and he o.k'd the fb again.

he told me that when i get pregnant in 4-6 weeks(haha)to stop the met. he is hopeful. he must know something i don't. but i have heard to keep taking the met when pregnant with pcos. i will take him some info when it happens and go from there. he wants to go the route of taking my readings but why not just stay on the met?

good job for your hubby taking the pills! does he have any known fertility problems? has he ever had a semen analysis? my doc said men's count and motility can change every year. how will u be measuring the success of fb with him?

how do u start a ticker?
i know so many questions .lol!

cbl!

Well, we had a little change of plans and might be ttc this month. It looks like DH will have business trips all summer long. So I'm trying to up his dosage to 3x/day which is okay by the FB people.

I can't wait to show my Dr. my weight loss too. Yes, I would definitely rec staying on the Met as well. In fact, when my Dr. prescribed it she said, "now make sure if you get PG to STAY on the Met!" and this was before my m/c's. She is very young and a fluffy cyster herself so I know she knows the score!

DH has had one SA a looong time ago. It was normal. I couldn't drag his butt into the clinic to get one now. He's so proud it's ridiculous. But from what I read, you can have the healthiest egg in the world but if some bad sperm fertilizes it you still run the risk of m/c. So technically, he's not diagnosed. I'm just taking preventative steps.

I don't know how we'll be measuring success. I know he says zinc makes his face greasy so if he starts complaining about that I'll know it's working, I guess.

To start a ticker go to tickerfactory.com

There are other ticker sites but you do not need to be a "member" to use their tickerfactory's tickers. I wish ticker factory had some better artwork. Those snakes are gawd awful.

I'm sorry your GNC was out. Our GNC is a frightening place, expired stuff everywhere. I had to order mine from amazon. Though, I did see FB for women at Eckerd drugstore about 6 months ago. Don't know if they still have it.

Gotta run,
Suze

Well my DH won't take 2/day. He will only take one. He claims b/c he drinks like two monster drinks a day that he doesn't need any more B-vits. Ugh!

I totally didn't think about allergy meds. DH is on them and I wonder if they dry him up too. Don't want to get too TMI here, but I've read about some ppl giving Robitussin to their DH's to, um, loosen up their, uh, stuff. Now all I have to do is sneak that into one of his monster drinks. heh, heh, heh!!!!

I have stopped charting too. I kept getting these annoying sighs coming from DH's side of the bed every time the thermometer beeped. I mean, it is really too loud at 6am but I can't help that!!! So I just plop down $20 for a box of OPK's instead.

I won't O for another week it looks like. How do you think you did? Any symptoms yet?

Take care!
