Default Fertility Funding

Hello ladies,

I was doing some research on the internet recently for fertility funding I found that both BC and Alberta have a private fertility fund for couples trying to conceive. I thought I would share this information with everyone in case you where not aware of the funds.

In BC we have the Hope Fertility Fund, it is administered through the UBC/Woman's hospital. The catch is you have to be a patient of one of their doctors and they ONLY pay for IVF. If you go to their website ubcfertility.com you can fill out their referral form and give it to your family doc who can send out the referral for you.

In Alberta, Calgary has the Generations of Hope fertility fund. I believe this fund is administered through the Regional Fertility Program. You can check out their website at regionalfertilityprogram.ca

I hope this helps someone!

Not sure if things have changed since I last read about the Calgary program but they had a pretty strict criteria when I looked into my eligibility a few years back.

Thanks for posting about the BC program.

FYI...The Ontario Government also has funding for IVF for those with blocked tubes. They will pay for 3 cycles over your lifetime.

Hopefully the Ontario provincial government will follow the recommendations of the "Expert Panel on Infertility and Adoption" since one of the panels recommendations is that the government expands it's IVF coverage to include more than just individuals with 2-blocked fallopian tubes.
