Default A few cinnamon questions for some users..

Need help in understanding what is going on with my body.

I started taking 1tsp of cinnamon in the morning and 1 tsp at nite.
My period is virtually on continuous mode for the last few years, but I have been trying to do the natural thing.
When I
eat junk food it gets heavy etc.

I have been doing cinnamon strictly for two weeks.
The day after I started the cinnamon the period stopped.
I NEVER expected that; I am tickled pink!

Thursday night I for got to take my dose but I took it the next morning which was friday; but friday night I forgot again
and this morning I was spotting. I took my 2 doses today and it is gone.

Now I know cinnamon is not making my bleeding stop, but I feel it is treating some hormonal cause.
Do you think the cinnamon is balancing the insulin and that is the cause of the continual bleeding ?

Or maybe by controlling the insulin another hormone gets put into place?

Is 2 tsp too much?
Can I possibly hard a organ?

HolidayHolly,

I have been taking cinnamon for about 2 years now and I am very pleased with the results. I take a low 1 gr dose everyday, sometimes a bit less depending on how bad/good I am with food and exercise.

The important question here is: are you insulin resistant? If you are, then yes, cinnamon is regulating your insulin and this in term is regulating other hormones that contribute to your never ending period.

You need to visit your dr for a proper diagnosis on this, but symptoms of being insulin resistant are (among others):

- abdominal fat
- feeling tired after meals
- having low energy levels

There are other threads about IR that have more complete lists of symptoms than this. Do a search of the forums.

Hope this helps.

Interesting how cinnamon is affecting you... I've been taking it for 3 days and my moods are more stable, and I'm never hungry...my blood sugars are DEFINITELY MORE STABLE...SUDDENLY I feel BALANCED!!! I've just been taking 1 tsp before my meal, breakfast and lunch. I don't take it after that because it is a stimulant and caused me to have insomnia...

I've just started with the cinnamon too. I've been putting 1 tsp on my cereal in the morning, and taking 1 350mg capsule with my lunch, and I have felt better for it in the last week. I was feeling really tired in the early afternoon without it, and now I feel nowhere near as tired as I was and like I have a bit more energy.

I have heard that cinnamon helps with glucose levels (i'm diabetic) How do you all use it; in food/ drinks, elixer etc. I think I might start using it as well. Does anyone know if it can be used during pregnancy.

babyjones97,

I take cinnamon capsules (which I am making on my own now, so much cheaper). There is a study that says saliva degrades cinnamon so to get the full effects, you should swallow it. I don't know how truth this is, but it makes it easier for me to take it in capsules as I can coordinate it with my other vitamins.

If you are a diabetic, I'd check with my dr first as cinnamon will interfere with your regular med (i.e. metformin).

About pregnancy, be careful too, cinnamon stimulates the uterus so it might not be so good while pregnant, it has been said to cause miscarriages. I have seen no studies about this, just what other people have posted in this forum.

Hope this helps

What brand do you take? Mine is 2400 mg too! Cinnamon has been really helping me as well with cravings, ect along with DCI. In what ways do you think it has helped?

I take the brand that you recommended.

As far as how it's been helping me? I don't have the ravenous cravings i used to have. I don't need chocolate or frappucino's anymore. Overall, i feel a lot more balanced emotionally. I am also taking Femaprin so that could be helping as well.

ChloeDuvall- That is wonderful the cinnamon is helping you! That is close to the way I am feeling. I used to crave sugary stuff and carbahydrates alot, now I dont hardly at all. So it makes it alot easier to stick to my diet most of the time. The Cinnamon anti-craving effect seem to last several hours after I take them.

Eruth- I purchase Cinnamon capsules from here: http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Cinna...ules/1103?at=0 but this is a good place too: http://www.luckyvitamin.com/item/itemKey/50356

I went out and bought the empty capsules about £5 (7dls) for 1000 capsules and then I buy bulk cinnamon, about £2 for 250grs (3dls).

I sit in front of the tv and make about 50 capsules per episode of friends.

The capsules are 00 and can hold exactly 500 mg the same as the ones I was buying from Holland & Barrett/GNC.

I bought cinammon from Puritan's Pride last week. They have a buy one get two free deal.

Does anyone know if you can take DCI and cinammon together?

Thanks,

Kathy
