Default A few met questions

I started met 2 days ago. I am only on 500 right now. Is it normal for it to cause nausea and headaches? If I eat something the nausea will go away for about an hour or two then I am right back to being sick. How long does this last? I feel like I am pregnant again dealing with MS!

It sounds like you have low blood sugar associated with the met. Make sure you eat small snacks with carb and protien every few hours to keep your sugars up and it should help.

Is that normal or should it be something I worry about? Should I tell my doctor or just wait awhile to see if my body adjusts?

It's normal. You have to give your body time to get used to the Met. I just had to stop it because of the side effects but the upset stomach did get better with time. It took me about 2 months, but that is different for everyone.

I just started back on Met 500mg. I was up to 1500mg b4 my ectopic pg. I had to work up to the 1500mg over an 8 month period. I had irritable bowels for atleast 2 months. I found that if I take the pills at night it wasn't as bad. I never was nausea though. Good luck at and hang in there it will get better!

Side effects are normal in the beginning. If they persist over several weeks, then I encourage you to talk to your doctor. When I first started met, I felt horrible, but I kept taking the meds, hoping that the side effects would go away. I had a very bad reaction and after a month, my doctor had to take me off of it because I was so nauseous that I wasn't eating enough and therefore my bloodsugar was too low.
