I'm obsessed with Chai tea frappuccinos from Starbucks, as well as the Green tea ones...but I always feel sick after wards from the sugar and creme overload. So I came up with my own make shift version.
3 Chai tea bags
1 cup hot water
Steep tea bags for about 5 minutes or so (Sort of makes a Chai concentrate)
Let the concentrate cool, then pour it in a blender.
Fill the rest of the blender with ice, and then pour milk (I've tried 2% organic, and vanilla soy, both work great, however I prefer the 2% because it makes a frothy foam with a consistency similar to whipped cream.)
Add sweetener to taste if preferred. ( I usually use half Splenda/half Clover honey)
Then blend to your hearts content, pour into a glass, and enjoy.
This recipe was enough for one "Venti" glass, and I didn't feel guilty at all for drinking the whole thing.
Another one I'm addicted to...Floats.
I pour about two thirds diet soda to one third milk add a capful of vanilla extract, stir, and enjoy.
(Oh! Make sure to pour the soda first, then milk. Otherwise you end up with a big bubbly mess all over the kitchen counter.)
