Default Finally!

I'm new to this forum and we have FINALLY come to the decision to start the adoption process after the first of the year. We've already received information from about 5 different agencies and it all seems so overwhelming. I've been browsing on this board for about 3 weeks now and you all seem like a wonderful group of people. I can't wait to get to know each and every one of you better. My husband and I are very excited about having something to look forward to after doing fertility drugs, IUI's, etc. and having nothing to show for it.

Thanks!

I know how you feel I went the fertility route also, and now I have a beautiful little girl via adoption through our local county, so good luck to you and take it slow there is a lot to do.

Congratulations on you decision....it's a big leap of faith to move on to adoption. I can say personally that when we made the decision to end formal fertility treatment (for now at least), it was like a huge rock had been lifted from my shoulders. I haven't felt this good in YEARS!

The ladies on this board have been a wealth of information and support to me. I don't think I would have survived without them.

Best of luck to you!!

Thanks ladies. I'm really excited about it, but nervous. My family is not being very supportive, but I'm sure they will come around. They have the attitude that we haven't been trying long enough. It's hard for them to understand without going through it themselves so I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Fertility drugs have made me crazy! I just finished Adoption after Infertility and it has helped me make the decision. My husband made the decision before I did. Probably b/c I am not the same person that I was when we got married. Now I have something to actually look forward to. I know it could take a long time, but I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I've read success stories on this board and I've read the struggles too. I'm just glad to have a place to go where I know the people will understand what we've been through and what we are about to go through!

Thanks again.

congradulations on your decision. try not to worry about your families opinions. when we anounced our plans, mil tried to talk me into more treatments, and fil tried to talk us out of the whole idea. now mil calls every night for an update on her first grandson.
good luck! lisa

Congrats on your decision !

There is alot of support and information here and I definetly wouldnt worry about family support at this stage, they will all come around in a heart beat when you announce something solid...at least thats what I found with my family !

Congratulations on your decision. It can be very tough dealing with the family that doesn't approve. My In-laws were not too thrilled with the idea of us adopting. They kept telling us we should keep trying, and do more treatments. Well, we are so glad that we didn't listen to them, because we now have our precious son, Zach. Now, the In-laws are constantly calling and wanting to know when they can keep him again.

Hang in there, once a child is in the picture, it seems to change familiy's minds.

Good morning ladies!

I'm not sure which way we are going to go. We have a lot to research. We found an agency that we are going to call called The Gladney Agency out of Fort Worth, Texas. They have an office in Oklahoma City, which is only an hour from here. They do both domestic and international. After the holidays we are going to call them and go meet with them and figure out our options. We'll probably meet with several different one's. It seems like International might be a little faster, but I don't know. That is why I like reading on this board b/c I get some ideas. I know either way it could take some time. I have to be patient, but it's hard. I'm ready to get the ball rolling. Any advice would be appreciated.
