Default Finally an answer after 20 years...

Hi everybody,

My name is Lisa. I am so grateful I have found this forum. It is a fabulous resource!

I was diagnosed this month with PCOS after 20 years of infertility, surgeries due to multiple cysts, and the loss of 1 tube and 1 ovary when a cyst collapsed them. I have 1/3 of my remaining ovary left, and I'm hoping that is enough to get the job done!

I went to OB/GYNs my entire adult life, and not one of them ever even considered PCOS even though I have just about every symptom. I went to my general MD this month for a physical, and I asked him what he thought of me having PCOS. We reviewed my history and did some tests, and I now have a diagnosis.

I am about to turn 40, and I had basically given up on my dream of being a mother. He has given me 1,500 mg of metformin, and hopefully that will be enough to induce ovulation. I am afraid to get my hopes up, but I will accept the outcome regardless of what it is and continue to live my life to the fullest.

I wish you all the very best on your PCOS journey, and I thank you again for this wonderful site!

Good luck on your journey! I hope the Met works. Are you open to other treatments, because there are a lot out there!

I am definitely open to other treatments. Many years ago I had taken Clomid for a couple of months, and I felt like I was losing my mind! It really depressed me and made me moody, so I am somewhat afraid of fertility drugs. If the metformin doesn't work I will likely go to a fertility specialist and see what else (besides Clomid!) they can offer.

I see you are pregnant. Congratulations! How exciting! All of my wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Default welcome!!!

WOW....I read your intro and all I could think was "wow" after 20 years...I am so sorry. But glad you finally have a diagnosis, while not the best news its atleast an answer. My Dr. actually diagnosed me right away while but wasn't very good at explaining it. i've learned all I know about this condition from the internet. I hope you learn many valuable things on this site and get much support on this journey.

Thank you, trustingGod. I figure things happen for a reason, and like your name says, I trust God and his timing. At 40 I am in the first healthy relationship of my life, and I can honestly say my husband would make an incredible father. If it happens now then that is just how it was meant to be. Best of luck to you!
