Hello there!
Am brand new to the site, though I have read posts before (as I suspected PCOS...and had my suspicions confirmed).
A bit of background....DH and I have been TTC for about a year (have been off BC for a year) and noticed my really abnormally long cycles (~52 days), and a lot of other interesting things, like the acne and little black hairs appearing in places where they shouldn't be. I also have a very hard time losing weight without cutting out all carbohydrates, even when excersising 5 days a week.
So finally, after a long period of waiting for the DH to get his tests done, my fertility OB/Gyn confirmed that I have slightly high androgens, its likely PCOS, and I am set to be scheduled for a lapro hopefully in the next three months.
Followed by Clomid, if my tubes are clear and no other problems are found. (I'm not insulin resistant, so he doesn't see the point in putting me on Metformin).
To top it all off, DH has a slightly lower count, motility, and a higher incidence of head abnormalities. So cross your fingers for me ladies!!!!
I so know what you mean when you say you felt like you were in limbo. I am not TTC, but I have been having issues for years and had no clue what it was. I was finally diagnosed just yesterday, but I will say that even though it sucks that I have PCOS, at least I know what is wrong with me and can try to change it.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here. This is one of the coolest message boards I have ever visited, and that's saying a lot!
