Default Finally getting Byetta

My PCP has decided to let me try Byetta after it being brought up several times, however I was informed they aparently have a Certified Diabetes educator at his office (I been goin for 2 years and have never been told this, only found out because I asked about a referrel to a nutrionist/dietician). Anyways he said after I go through a little thing with her I can start on Byetta I guess she does some kind of instruction thing on it before I can start it or something heck I don't know but I'm excited. Only sucks that my appointment is not until Feb 12 BUt o well I'm hoping this works, especially with the weight loss stuff!!

Wishing you the best of luck. The diabetes educator is probably going to explain to you how Byetta works and how to do your injection, etc. I found it very interesting and worth the time with her. Check out the Byetta Club in the other medications forum as well. I've had great success with my blood sugars and my weight loss with Byetta.

I have a question. Were you on met before being put on byetta? If so, what was your glucose readings while on met? The reason I am asking is because my endo wants me to test my blood sugar once a week all day long before and after meals. He is wanting to see how well the met is controlling my blood sugar. What have your reading been while on Met? Why did they change you from met to byetta. He wants to either change up my meds. I don't know if that meant he wanted to put me on byetta or add something else to go along with met. If he isn't talking about switching me to byetta, what would he add to go along with my met?? Sorry for taking over your thread...and thanks in advance for your help...Oh, what happened with your appt?

My appointment is next monday with the diabetes educator lady or whatever..

As far as the Metformin it's done a whole lot of nothing for me. Nothing at all! My numbers weren't any better or worse with it. My doctor put me on a pill called Amaryl. That has worked excellent. But I still have to be on Levemir (an insulin that I use at bedtime). The reason for me wanting to be able to get on the Byetta is to hopefully get me to one medication I hope.
As far as my blood sugar numbers, you may want someone else to answer that just for the fact that my numbers have always been a lot higher because I've been on steroids for my Asthma soo my numbers automatically start off super high. However since I've been on the Amaryl my numbers have been pretty normal, and some times dropping toooooooooo low.

I'm doing okay with it! My biggest thing is I've never really been one to have a big appetite as it is and with the appetite supressant in the Byetta I have to pretty much force feed myself and then I end up getting sick! I don't really know what to do. If I don't eat I will drop too low but when I force feed I get sick, so go figure!
