Default Finally got my period... but without Metformin/BCP?

Hi ladies.

I haven't had my period since January. I was diagnosed with PCOS in July and was prescribed Metformin. I haven't started taking the Metformin yet but I have been on a diet. To my surprise, 2 days ago I had light spotting and then a full blown period. My bleeding is heavier, but I'm thinking it's because I haven't had one in so long. I have to change my pad every few hours, but it's not that bad.

I don't have cramps or anything, just a little bit of bloating and breast tenderness. Have any other of you women had a random period without taking Metformin or anything? I find it kind of awkward that it just started out of the blue even though I haven't taken any Met yet.

I have never had my period on my own...but it gives me hope to hear that maybe with diet and exercise things can start back up naturally!! How much weight have you lost and what kind of diet are you on??

I don't know how much weight I've lost because I don't like to look at the scale, but I know I've lost some. My mom bought these pajama pants from Wal Mart for me a while back that were size 12/14 and they didn't fit at the time, but they fit me now. I need to start Met soon as well which should help with the weight...

I'm on my own diet. I completely eliminated sugar (except for fruits and stuff). It's sort of like the first phase of the South Beach Diet I guess. I eat vegetables, good meat, whole wheat bread, noodles, tortillas... stuff like that. I also have a cheat day once a week where I allow myself to have a sugary treat. Like Starbucks, Ice Coffee from McDonalds, ice cream and stuff like that. Back in January when I had a cheat day once a week and was regularly exercising, I lost 12 pounds in that one month. Unfortunately I've been slacking on the exercise part this time around, but I'm definitely working on it!
