Well, I went to see my doc on Monday and he and I talked about the m/c. He told me that he was very sorry for our loss. I was also so relieved to hear him say exactly what I had concluded that I lost the baby because of low progesterone. He also considered the pregnancy a luteal phase failure and atributes it to my progesterone level. I was so happy that I really did not even have to ask my list of questions that I took with me. He answered everything before I could ask. Next time we get pregnant he will start me on progesterone suppositories as soon as we confirm pregnancy! I also had started taking my Fortamet a week after I m/c'd and when he did an ultrasound he found one egg in my left ovary, its 10.6mm. I am going back on Thursday so he can see if it has grown big enough to ovulate. Maybe I will get to try again sooner than expected? I am both excited and scared. I do feel better about trying knowing I will be on progesterone and he also suggested to posibbly stay on my Fortamet to keep my sugar in check. I really wanted to share my good news with you all. I feel like I have a bit of light peeking through these dark clouds that have been hanging over me for the past 3 weeks.
God Bless
-Julie

I am glad that you found an explanation and that your doctor was on the ball.
Why is your doctor going to wait for the positive test first. I have a luteal phase defect as well and I always started my progesterone injections 3 days after ovulation. I would ask your doc and push for starting it after ovulation. Better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck!

Amen to both comments! Lots of cysters on the board start progesterone supplements (either vaginally, by shot, etc.) before even getting a BFP. This might be something to look into.
I am just glad you have some answers...although of course I'm still sad for your loss...
I asked my doc about starting progesterone at 3 dpo too. He said yes quickly but then he said "wait" and thought for a second. It would mess up your period if you're not pregnant, wouldn't it?
In any case, I'm glad you have some answers. I know that, for me, it really helped!

I want to echo what the other ladies said. Congrats on getting an explanation. I also started progesterone supplements during the 2WW. You won't get a period while you're taking it, but if you're not pregnant, you stop taking it after you get the test results back and AF shows up a few days later.

Very good info. I'm so glad it was actually figured out. It would be great if your next follie is so big and strong that it produces more progesterone and carries you the two weeks, but I would ask about supplementing during the luteal phase as well.
Good luck!!

Good luck on that folly...GROW, GROW, GROW.......

I agree 100%...Good Luck and I am glad your doctor was so understanding and knew what was the problem. I am sorry you had to go through this to find out.
Thanks Ladies!! I am going to see my doc tomorrow and I will ask him about starting the supplements at ovulation. I think that I am fortunate to have a doc as good as him. He never minds that I ask questions and he tells me that he is so glad I do research to find things out. I sure am hoping that my little egg grew to a nice ripe size in these few days! If not I'm sure we'll be able to try next month. (Unfortunately, my parents will be visiting, I guess on the way back from the docs office we'll have to get one of those pay by the hour hotel rooms. ) Thank you all for your support!
God Bless

I am glad your doctor is so forthcoming and helpful, although I have to echo what Michele said. It is too bad this had to happen for you to find out.
I don't know if this depends on the type of progesterone support you use, but I was taking progesterone (Utrogest) supplements during my treatment cycles and if I wasn't pregnant, then I got my period anyway. Which is exactly what my RE predicted would happen. So it shouldn't screw up your cycle.
If you can't get him to give you the supplements earlier, then you might look into natural progesterone cream. I am using this now while I try for a while on my own and it lengthened my luteal phase by about 2 days. There is a sticky at the top of this forum.
Good luck with your new cycle! It sounds like it's going well!
I'm so glad you have an answer. That can make grieving a little easier (wish something could ease the pain altogether).
Try to stay on fortamet for the entire pregnancy next time. In addition to it preventing some M/C in cysters, diabetic women who stayed on their medications have fewer second trimester losses, and it can help prevent GD in the third trimester.

I went to the doc and he said the he would rather I not take the progesterone suppositories until after I have a confirmed preg. I trust the man, he is a very good doc and understands what I am going through. I did just today after I got home order some progesterone cream and am going to use it until I either have a positive or negative pregnancy test. And I will get some B complex vitamins also(good suggestion Meghan). My egg was 16 mm. He is expecting it to grow a bit more and then I should ovulate. I am happy and sad. Excited and scared. I have a huge mixture of emotions going on inside. I still cry at night for the baby I lost but, I really want to try again and hopefully this one will carry to full-term. Thanks Gals for all of your help. I will try to keep you posted. I guess it's ok to talk about ttc with you all. I have this fear of going to the ttc board because as soon as I did last time, the next day I m/c'd. I also have to still work through the sorrow and ttc again. If its not ok, some one just say and I'll totally understand. Thanks everyone. God Bless.
