Angry Finally ... an understanding.

First of I am Tina from upstate NY I am 25 years old. No Kids not married. Hopefully someday on both.

In 2002 I joined the navy. While I was in the navy I kept have abnormal pap smears. I never thought anything of them at the time. At one point I had a Colposcopy but results from that were normal. So I didnt think anything of it. I just on with my job.

In 2006 I got out of the Navy and was looking over my medical record. Something struck me as funny in there. On the first page of my medical record. Were all the important information lay. Of allergies, genetic disorders, blood type. On that page I learned for the first time I had PCOS. I was out of the navy though.

In 2006/2007 I started seeing a doctor at the VA whom I was not to fond of. Whom I asked what this PCOS thing was on my military record. She flat out told me I didn't have it.

So I go a few more years. Not really going to appointments and such because I didnt want to. Earlier this year I went in to have my annual exam done because I finally decided I needed to go back just in case I was having issues like I did when I was younger.

At my exam the doctor who told me I didn't have PCOS took one look at my stomach and my face. Purposely I hadn't removed the hair in a few days. And told me I had PCOS. WTF. This is the same doctor. I looked right at her and said I told you this 3 years ago. That I had it. It says it in my military record.

So the doctor sends me to get an ultrasound done. Low and behold I have cysts on my ovaries. Wow. 15 on one of them and about 8 on the other.

So yeah I am a little pissed. Because I have no idea how long people have known that I have had this issue but have not took any steps in trying to treat it.

My last MP was in August of last year. So the doctor today gave me a pregnancy test to make sure I wasnt pregnant. So she could give me something to start my (.) Oh joy. She also wants to start me on a drug called Metomorphin? I beleive. I think I was reading about it on here yesterday when I joined the site. Used to treat Diabetes 2 also.

She is refering me over to another gynocologist. I beleive outside of the VA. I am wondering though if I should seak another opinion or should I go along with treatment as is.

I did tell her upfront that someday I would like to have children and she asked me if I was trying to have them now and I said no. Should I? I have been seeing the same person for 3 plus years. He has a son from another relationship and I dont know if were ready to have a kid. I am just worried if I keep waiting will my odds of being able to have kids go down. She said they would probably give me chlomid when to help me ovulate when I decided I wanted to have them.

Confused

Welcome to SC :-)

I'm currently on Metformin and it takes a while to kick in (my dr estimated 2-4 months) and at first you may feel a little rough (just for a few days, maybe a little headachey and nausea for an hour or two after taking it) but it doesn't last long

good luck :-) x

I should be starting it soon just waiting for it to come in the mail. I didnt want to wait at the doctors office for it. I get seen through the VA and they have a pharmacy there. So we can just let the doctor know to have them mail it.

hello and welcome to sc! i hope you find the answers you are looking for here. i had alot of disapointing experiences with doctors, it took me about my 5th doctor to figure this dx out. not sure what they did differently or if they just have a better head on their shoulders but i am certainly doing better then i was.
good luck and take care!
