Default Finally went to the doctor...

It feels like forever since I've been to the site...

I finally went to the doctor...after cancelling appointments and putting it off for a month. I made my hubby take me to the walk in clinic.

I think I've developed a mild case of Agoraphobia...it kills me to go out. When I do, I feel panicky...anxious...paranoid...all just out of nowhere. I don't ever leave the house alone anymore..it's just getting ridiculous.

Ok, anyway...so I got to the clinic and the doctor there was really sweet. She was so nice about things...she gave me 3 weeks worth of Citalopram (Celexa). Gave me some blood tests to get done. Only 3 weeks because she wants me to do a follow up with another doctor, to make sure there are no serious side effects and then he will give me a longer prescription.

I hope it works. I'm sick of being scared to go out. And I'm sick of dragging my husband and everyone else down around me. It's making him so stressed out and he doesn't deserve that.

I hope that helps you. Sometimes I feel like I'd rather just not try to be social and I wonder if it's partly depression.

Best of luck to you.... Citalopram worked for me (I was on 40mg) and it helped me get out and about more, (I have some issues where I live with anti-social behaviour).... it did me good for about 8 months!

Have to tell you, Effexor XR did wonders for me in what you're experiencing, seems I don't care too much anymore about the crowds or get anxious about it too much.
Good luck to you!

I take celexa and have for quite some time, even when I was five months pregnant. It really took the edge off my social anxiety, almost immediately. Apparently, it has an anti-anxiety effect that works first and then it starts to work on the depression aspect.
I wish you the best of luck!

I too went to the doctors last week , she has given me citalopram

I started on saturday. Sunday and today i have a really bad headache, also found that i cannot sleep. I know it very ealry days.

Mazarin - did you suffer any side effects at the beginning and how long did they last. Also were there any other effects whilst taking it

Also I was on effexor before and although it helped me I suffered alot with other side effects for the whole two years I was on it.

sorry to question alot - but I am scared about taking it since the difficulty with the effexor. But at the same time I am so depressed I need to do something.

I'd like to know what kind of side effects other girls have had...

I am on my 4th day...and I've been taking half pills until now. I think I will for today and tomorrow as well.

I feel...wierd. I'm taking mine at night because they make me really tired. Mostly I get stomach pain a little...but I also get a little shaky and have tremors. The sheet I have from the pharmacy says this is all normal...but I feel so out of it.

By morning it's not too bad...but after I take it at night I feel so drugged up. Does this every go away? Or is this what it is like always?
