 Find another doctor??
I'm fairly new to this site and i'm so glad to find i'm not alone with this whole pcos!!!
After having blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound I was dx with pcos on Sep '06 in Mexico. The doc recomended i should be on bcp but since i didn't live there he said i should consult a doc here in the states. I was soo confused when I left his office as I've never heard of this condition and wasn't sure what was going on with my body and what the risks were.
After reading and researching everything there is about pcos [and my increasingly thinning and hair loss :( ] I finally had the courage to see a doctor just last week. Since at the moment i'm unemployed, I had to go to a low cost clinic.. Eeh bad idea or so I think.. After waiting 1.5 hrs than what had been my appt by the time it was my turn it was already closing time. So all the doc did was just ask me these questions (no joke!):
*Why are you here?
*When was your last period?
*Are you sexually active?
(then he did that annoying thing when docs press down on your stomach, sorry i don't know the name for it and a pregnancy test)
Then he came back and gave a prescription for Yasmin and told me to come back in 3 months. I felt he was rushing and just wanted me outta there!! Should I really trust this doc? I was kinda hoping he would at least check my hormone/sugar levels or do a physical.
Does anyone agree I should just check in with another doc? Or am I just blowing this whole thing out of proportion and should just take the Yasmin? |
