Hey guys! This is my first time to post here...I just got my first BFP a few days ago. I'm SO excited, but also VERY scared. I thought after I FINALLY got pregnant, I would be relieved...but all I can think of now is all of the stuff I read prior to being pregnant about the risks of miscarrying, etc. Are my chances of miscarrying higher because I have PCOS?? Is there anything I can do to make my baby stick?? Thanks!
PS - I have had off and on cramping. Is this normal?? Should I worry??

Congrats! Calm down...relax. Looks pretty good since you got pregnant on met alone. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. It's normal to be worried but try not to let it consume you.
Take each day one at a time and try to focus on the positive.
Good luck!!

PCOS does not make you more at risk for a miscarriage.
Have a Happy, Healthy 9 months!

Congratulations! It's so nerve wracking at the beginning. My OB recommended that I take one baby aspirin per day to help reduce the possibility of a miscarriage. I'm not sure that's what they recommend for everyone, but that's what I was told to do. I also stayed on Met for the first 12 weeks or so. Those are two things you can discuss with your doctor. Best of luck!

Congrats!
Cramping is normal, especially with a first pregnancy. Before I got my first BFP I was sure AF was coming because I had cramps and all other signs of it. Turns out I was pregnant.

haha, I totally understand that worrying thing! I always thought a BFP would mean no more worrying. Yeah right! Everytime I pass a milestone in pregnancy, instead of relief, I find something else I'm worried about. Now I'm thinking "as soon as he's born, I won't worry anymore!" but yeah... I think that's when the REAL worrying begins :-P
Anyways, congratulations! Try not to stress. Easier said than done, I know, but there's not much you can do at this point other than take it day by day To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Congrats on your BFP!!!!! Trust me we all have been there but the only advice I can give you is try to take it one day at a time. I know that is easier said then done. You have us here to support you.

Congrats girl. I feel the exact same way. Excited. Anxious. Nervious. I guess the best we can do is relax. Today is my expected period day and i'm freaking. We get to meet our baby for the first time in 5-7 weeks.
I wish you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Yes PCOS does increase risk for miscarriage. But I seen that you are on Metformin, it reduces the risk of miscarriage tremendously. I got pregnant on Met only and stayed on it until 14 weeks. I am know 26 weeks and everything is fine. So I'm sure you'll be fine, but remember to try not to stress b/c that's the worse for you and your little bean.
Oh the cramping is very normal. I cramped from when I found out until about 9 weeks. It's the uterus doing it's thing. So excited for you, take it easy, H&H 9 months!

Actually this hasn't really been proven. I think most doctors suspect having pcos could put you at a higher risk but it's not a fact.
I know plenty of women who do not have pcos or any infertility for that matter but have had a miscarriage. They then go on to have healthy pregnancies.

Congratulations!!! What an accomplishment to conceive on JUST met!!
First, the cramping is totally normal.
Second, I understand your worries. I have them too. I think I won't believe this pregnancy is successful until the baby is in my arms. That being said, the passing of each milestone does alleviate some of the worry. Stay strong, have faith, and try to enjoy your pregnancy!

My doctor took me off met. He said he is going to test my progesterone and supplement if its low. I'm really interested in staying on the met, but i don't know how to approach him with the idea. Do I just say, "hey, i read on the internet that staying on met might keep me from miscarrying?"

This thread has a lot of very helpful info.
I say it's totally worth talking to your doctor about. He may disagree with you and still want you to quit, but at least you tried! If you trust your doctor, then listen to him. If you have your doubts you might want to look for a second opinion.
