Default First Counselor's Appointment

So, I just made my first appointment to see a counselor for my anxiety. Any thoughts/suggestions? Has anyone REALLY had any luck on a great outcome from therapy?

It is very important that you feel comfortable with your counselor. If you don't feel comfortable, don't feel bad about finding a new one. I have seen several counselors. I saw one when I was in high school and I really liked her. I saw a couple different counselors after high school and never really felt comfortable with either one of them. Counseling really helped me though. I was able to find natural ways to deal with my anxiety and I was able to come of my Paxil. Good luck!

I had to go to a pychiatrist while I was PG because my OB didn't want me on any meds. I had horrible anxiety and anxiety attacks. It got to the poitn where I couldn't even walk into a store by myself without having a bad anxiety attack. I really liked the lady I was seeing. (I had seen two people before and didn't like them much.. they took the you talk to me approach and I like talking where they take the lead).

It helped me a lot. I went every week for a few weeks, then every other week I think over 3 months total. I had my baby 8 months ago and still haven't had an anxiety attack. now of course my brain is a diff story.. I still anticipate it, but I've learned many coping techniques and she really helped me understand where my anxiety came from. I think I'll continue to get better with things as long as I remember everything she taught me.

Right now unfortunantly I'm battling PPD so I did just start celexa. I'm sure that will help to!

I would suggest journaling. It has really helped me to cope with my situation.
