Lightbulb First follow up appointment since diagnosis

Hey everyone,
Tomorrow I have my first follow up appointment with my OB since she sent me letter explaining that she thought I had PCOS. She based her assessment on my blood work. That was late May, early June. I was wondering if any of you have any thoughts of what I should be discussing with her. She put me on 100 mg Spironolactone. Should I ask her about the possibility of having anything else that mimics PCOS? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

For me, this would depend on how closely I believe I fit the profile. Do you think there's anything else going on? Or do you want to talk about the treatment approach that she's suggesting that might better address how PCOS manifests in your body? Do you have mutiple symptoms that might be addressed differently?

I guess I'm asking why you might think you have something else. Yes, that is a possibility - Cushing's, Hashimoto's, LOCAH (?) - but what leads you to believe it might be something else?

I don't know. I just worry I guess. I wasn't worried about anything else until I read about Cushing's and LOCAH on the message boards. (Had never even heard of them until now.) Anyway, atleast a few people and/ or articles I read stated that a diagnosis for PCOS should only be made after all other possibilities are ruled out.

alolmommy: I noticed on another board that you're from Tallahassee. Who is your ob/gyn? Generally, PCOS is diagnosed based on b/w and symptomology (possibly u/s of the ovaries, but, despite the name, a lot of us don't have cysts). If the b/w is indicating PCOS, I would guess that's most likely correct. But if you have any concerns, feel free to tell your doctor that you want further testing to r/o anything else.
