I am on day 4 of Clomid, so far no side effects. I was wondering if there were any specific days that we should do the BD? I left a message for my RE but have no heard back. Was anyone instructed about timing? lol

Are you doing any monitoring? You want to make sure you've have intercourse a few times in the several days before you ovulate--which is hard to predict for some women! I had u/s monitoring, but some use OPKs to predict, or the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. The worst part is trying to enjoy it when you "have to!"
My RE recommended the "as often as possible" approach in the days before my follies matured, by the way! DH loved that advice.
Best of luck to you!

I'm trying to figure this out myself. My doctor's office says to use the OPKs but I have never used them before so I don't know if i am one of those people who gets false positives with them - I suspect I am since my LH is so obnoxiously high. And then I have read clomid can make you have false positives while you are on it and till 1-2 days after you go off it!
I have read most consistantly that for a CD5-9 trial most docs seem to say start intercourse on CD12 and do it every other day...
Well I guess my plan of action would be to do OPKs starting the day after my last clomid... start BD 3 days after my last clomid... temp all along... keep BDing every other day and OPKing until O is confirmed via temping/symptoms OR until I just can't handle BDing every other day any more, which ever comes... first? Last?
I don't know. It seems like a semi-half-assed plan ... the best way I guess for sure would be to be monitoried via ultrasound... possibly triggered if need be... but my insurance doesn't cover infertility so that's really not too viable an option for me. I mean we could probably afford it but I'd rather check if the cheap method works first.
Oh I bought a pack of 25 OPKs from a cheap on-line site so I got that angle pretty well covered I think. Those things are waaaaay to expensive in stores for women with cycles like us... well, like me, anyway...

Thanks for the advice Ladies. I am on the 5-10 day clomid schedule, took my final one last night. So I am planning on doing the every other day BD quest

If you take Clomid 5-9, I'd start with the opks on CD 11 and also start BDing every other day starting at CD 12. I usually O between CD 16-18 on CD 5-9.
I recommend taking Mucinex or plain old Robitussin with ONLY the active ingredient of guaifenisin in it. It will help with your "hostile" cervical mucus that Clomid can cause.
Also, drink lots of water and green tea.

If the OPK's don't work for you, don't freak out like I did. My first cycle on clomid, I didn't use them, and we didn't get pregnant. My second cycle I did use them, and I tested for 8 days in a row and never saw a surge at all. I flipped out and thought that the clomid had stopped working for me, and I would need to go on a higher dose, or try another medication. But I had my bloodwork done and it came back positive for O... and then two weeks later, we found out we were pregnant. So if you think the OPK's might stress you out that way, then I'd advoid them and just have BMS every other day until you find out if you've O'd when they do an u/s or bloodwork.
