First time IVF - high E2

Hi Ladies! I am a first time poster but wanted to join in since I'm doing IVF for the first time. I'm scheduled for egg retrieval in 3 days (this coming Friday) however I'm starting to get really concerned about OHSS. My E2 level was just over 8000 and I've got something like 25 or 30 big follicles. Everything I read online suggests that my numbers are too high and I'm destined to have hyperstimulation! I've discussed it with my RE and she isn't too concerned. Does this seem right? I'm going to a pretty reputable clinic, and I just thought they would have cancelled my cycle to be on the safe side. I really don't want to get OHSS! At this point they have me "coasting" until Friday (no more drugs), so maybe the RE is just hoping my E2 levels will go down before then. Anyone else have an experience like mine?

I had a similar thing happen when I went through IVF. We ended up doing a freeze all after ER and then did an FET the following month. I still got mild OHSS, but if I would have done a fresh transfer and gotten pregnant, I would've gotten severe OHSS and would have had to been hospitalized.

I am not doing IVF but I am just trying to get to an IUI. I have been off of the meds for (3) days and my doctor said I need to "coast" now but my E2 levels keep going up for some reason. My E2 was 2697 today and it was 1464 yesterday. I pray that it starts going down so I might get a chance to have my IUI. I will find out tomorrow. Well my E2 was 9800 the last time they checked and I struggled with whether or not to cancel the cycle. I went ahead with the Ovidrel shot and the egg retrievel, which was 2 days ago, and we had a really good result. The doctor called yesterday and said 20 of the eggs had fertilized! I will get another update on their progress tomorrow. My transfer is scheduled for Wednesday, but again, I am leaning towards freezing them for now, and doing FET next month. I just don't feel well, like I'm so totally bloated my stomach hurts nonstop. I don't know if it's a mild case of OHSS or if it's just common for everyone to have realy bad bloating, but I don't want to start out a pregnancy feeling this way! I'd rather wait until next month when I'm feeling better, but I've got 3 more days to decide.

Congrats Elizabeth09 on the good news! I hope you feel better but I know it will be worth it when you get your BFP! I hope my E2 level goes down today but we will see later on this afternoon.

Yeah - let me know how it goes. I coasted for 4 days and my E2 kept climbing for some reason, but hopefully yours will go down. How many follicles do you have? You can always switch to IVF if you get too many. I've heard of people doing that.

My E2 level went down a little today and I had (2) follicles last week and I will find out tomorrow what is going on with the follicles.
