Default First time taking metformin

I took my first dose of met last night and took it as I was eating dinner. Within 30 minutes of taking the pill, I basically passed out. Is this normal with met and should I adjust taking the pill either before or after I eat?

Thanks,

Georgette

Do you mean passed out as in fell asleep? I know a lot of us have fatigue for awhile. But it is supposed to go away after about a month. I hope so, there are days I need a nap, but it just can't happen. I don't think changing the time you take it will help, but you can experiment and see.

its best for most people to take it right with dinner because it is very common for it to cause upset stomach. you falling asleep probably had nothing to do with taking the Met because i've never heard of anyone taking it and it making them tired. Being tired is part of the disease though. but then again, ya never know. maybe you are having a rare side effect. try it for a few days and see if it keeps happening and if so i suggest you check in with your doctor about it
