Default Fish Oil

I've had PSOS since my teens and nothing in the way of pharmaceuticals has helped me with my period, weight, or the hair that wants to grow in all the wrong places. I started taking fish oil 6 months ago to make my hair shiny and just overall health benefits. I take 4000 mg/day(4- 1000mg pills) and I have had my period like clockwork each month for 5 months and the cramps are normal. It took a month, but I have gone years without having a period. I have bad reactions with the birth control pill such as migraines and weight gain, and with the fish oil, I'm actually losing weight although just a bit, and my occasional acne has all but gone. I really can't believe it when I start to feel the cramping the night before... I look at the calendar and it's always around the 20th. CRAZY! Now it feels like all of the time because I'm not used to it. I'm very happy that I feel more normal though. I can't stop telling everybody about the fish oil, maybe I should start selling it too. Ha!

Wow... this is really valuable stuffs... thanks for sharing. I'll definitely give that a shot after this pregnancy and see if it can help regulating my period too.

That's awesome!! I've read that there are many benefits to Fish Oil! Maybe I'm just not taking enough. I only take 1 capsule a day (1000mg).

You can actually take Fish Oil while pg, it can help with brain development of your baby.

I've read that pg ladies shouldn't consume cod liver oil due to high contents of Vit A. Is this only restricted to cod liver oil & therefore other types fish oil should be fine? I'm just a bit confused.

I take a Salmon Oil Capsule (I'm not currently pg). I would double check with your dr or midwife. I have friends whose midwives and doulas recommended either Salmon Oil or Omega3's during thier pregnancies. hth.

I have PCOS, and I can tell you that fish oil is really good. I have taken it throughout alot of my recent pregnancy. I usually tried to stick with Dr Barry Sears recomendations... 1600 mg EPA and 800 DHA and get around that much. My baby is very alert, and seems well-developed. Others have commented on it, too. She is my 4th and the only one I took fish oil with during pregnancy.

I am taking fish oil now, too, and i am hoping that it helps me get off of the depression meds I am on. It kept me off of meds during my pregnancy!! I take 2000 mg EPA, and 300 mg DHA.

Thanks, I'll look around for some non-liver fish oil in Holland... and definitely consult with my DR first. The thing is that I've read mixed reviews on it (it's either very good or very bad for pg ladies) that I got confused.
