I have very dry skin and was wondering if Flax seed oil or fish oil will help it? Anybody have experience with either of these? Any input would be appreciated.
I was taking fish oil... and it did nothing for my skin. I stopped talking it because the only thing it seemed to be doing was giving me horribly bad breath!

Flax and fish oil capsules are great sources of EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids), as are Evening Primrose and Hemp. Hemp has the added benefit of being very well balanced in Omega 3s and 6s. Use caution with fish oil caps, as many large, oily fish are contaminated with mercury, and the oils, if extracted from the livers, can also be contaminated.
Are you drinking enough water? The idea of 8 glasses glasses of water a day isn't just for the health crazed. It is good for all of us. By the time we feel thirsty, dehydration has already begun.
Increasing your intake of fresh veggies and fruits, along with fibre, will help to flush toxins from the body, allowing it to heal and allowing your cells to take up the nutrients they need to be healthy. This can dramatically improve the look and feel of both your skin and hair.

I drink at least 64 oz of water a day and sometimes more. I eats lots of veggies and fruits because I'm on weight watchers and I'm choosing a healthier lifestyle. I've always had dry skin...since I can remember. Thanks for all the info everyone.
Did you know dry skin can sometimes be a symptom of Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)? It may be worth getting your thyroid levels checked out. I used to have extremely dry skin from about 15 y o onwards until I was diagnosed at the age of 26 with the condition. It gradually improved with taking Thyroxine, from having to moisturise my face 2 or 3 times with a heavy night cream before I could even put my make up on, to now having to use a minute amount of a light moisturiser for oily skin!
It's worth checking out, especially as you are doing all the other things right, like plenty of fluids etc. I'm not sure if you have dry skin all over or not but I found special bath oils from the Dr like Oilatum and Emulsiderm to be really helpful, as is applying any body oils/moisturisers straight after a bath or shower whilst your skin is still damp.
pleasantlyblew: They check my thyroid when they did my blood work for PCOS and said it was fine. My Mom has dry skin to so I think it is heriditary. Thanks for the info though.
I take a GNC mulit oil supplement which I started about 3 weeks ago and I have noticed that my skin is not as dry and I am having hardly no PMS symptoms this cycle like I normally do after ovulation. The only drawback is that for the first week I burped fish all day, now I only notice it once a week.
I used EPO for a month and afterwards tried flaxseed for a month and with them alone I noticed no reduced symptoms in PMS like I have with the multi oil and my skin continued to be dry. The multi oil contains EPO, fish oil, flax seed oil, wheat germ oil, borage oil and black currant oil. So it must be the combination that is giving me the good results.
I am following a sensible diet that I have been on since January, drink as least 80oz of water a day, tone 3 days a week and do 30 min of cardio every other day and relax on Sundays.
My face has a few blemishes this cycle but normally after ovulation my bb's are very sore, I am very bloated, and slightly depressed but this cycle so far I feel great, but over the past few days I have started to have a slight steady headache which is normal a week before AF arrives.
