So far I am finding since I am on Met that weight loss is easier for me. I am not doing much but eating smaller portions and still seem to be losing weight.

I'm not going to complain!

Once I started Met and changed my diet, the weight started dropping off, even without exercise. I lost about 50lbs since Sep 2005. The past few months, I let my diet slip a lot and my weight has plateaued. So far I haven't gained any back, so that's good.. although I need to get back on the wagon and watch what I eat.

So for me, metformin definately helped, but it's not a magic weight loss pill. I still have to watch the diet!

I'm PCOS/IR and met only stops weight gain. It doesn't take anything off for me. To take it off, it ME who has to change and it usually means eating well and working out 4x a week minimum.

I don't relaly have a problem losing... I have a problem with working out. Part of the reason is improving my time management skills now that I have a kid and the other part of the reason is that I tend to go through exercise slumps. Summer heat in particular is the pits!

Indeed it did. Finding out I had diabetes scared me senseless. I don't want to die in any of the delightful drawn out horrible ways diabetes can kill you. Or the way it can ruin your life on the way to dying from it. So after I was diagnosed, I was treated with met, diet, and exercise, and lost 50 pounds in the first six months. Gained 12 back though. Sigh. It's all about the motivation. I need to get scared to death again of it.
