It has a diuretic in it if I am not mistaken so you should not be retaining water. That hasn't happend to me at all but hopefully someone will come along and be able to answer you better. I would see your doctor if you are having this issue, it shouldn't be the Yasmin.

The progestin is a semi-diuretic, but Yasmin also has a LOT of estrogen, which causes water retention (bloating), moodiness, etc etc. There is a new one YAZ that has about half its estrogen (20 mcg vs Yasmin's 35) but the same progestin to help our PCOS symptoms. It also has 24 "real" pills per month instead of 21, shortens AF supposedly. Maybe you could try that one instead? See if you still retain fluid?

chamooda - i know what you're going through (i think?...) i was put on yasmin after i had my son, i was only one pound shy of my prepregnancy weight when i started it...and i know that i weigh more now, i can actually feel the weight on me and it's VERY uncomfortable. it just doesn't make sense to me that i should weigh more now than i did after i had my baby, i can only conclude that yasmin had something to do with it. it's very rare you'll hear bad side effects of yasmin but if you find anything out would you please let me know
