Default Flutamide and Weight Gain

Hi,

I was on Metformin and Spiro but they were causing me to have deep emotional disturbances that I could barely cope with. I was then prescribed Flutamide in their place and have taken it for 4 months. My depression has eased 'yay!' but I have gained 12lbs!!! I am so, so upset but have an appt with the endo on Monday.

Did anyone else have this problem? What else did you try?

I am beginning to think nothing will work for me

are you following a low carb diet along w/ the Flutamide? I found if i stay on a high carb diet, none of my meds ever worked for me and i gained weight also. When i went LC, the weight slowly dropped and the meds seemed to actually do something...just something to consider...

Some of the weight gain might be from the previous months when you were having problems on the other meds - especially if one of the problems was depression. Weight gain and depression sometimes go hand in hand.

Have you been keeping a meal and workout journal? If so, the clues may also be there.

Remember, the best 'recipe' for weight loss is reduced calories 7 days a week and 60 minutes of exercise 5-6 days per week. A food/exercise journal can show how close (or not close) you are to those goals.
