Points: 2,623.61 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,623.61 | Follow Up Question - ChristyZ Hey there...I wrote a few days ago about upping my dosage. I went and saw my Dr. on Monday and she agreed that I could take 1500mg per day, which from everything I've read, seems to be the usual dosage for most people, or rather, the most effective dosage. Anyway, that was on Monday. I was really interested in what you've had to say the last few days to Selina Reyes and a couple of others regarding ovulation. After only a day of taking 1500mg, yesterday I had nothing but dull aches in both my ovaries and lower back pain. I guess I'm looking for an opinion. Here's some background...
Period with BCP's: May 22-May25
I gave up taking BCP's then...since then, breast tenderness
Upped dosage of Met to 1500mg on Monday, June 2 - yesterday June 3 dull ache in both ovaries and annoying dull lower back pain...
Ok...so I know that a dull ache is common with ovulating, but the lower back pain? I thought that was just a PMS symptom...Like Selina I am hoping I am or will ovulate...I started taking metformin on March 19 and was taking 1000mg until Monday...I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have...thanks. |

Anytime you have any kind of pain, I suggest calling your Dr. I'd rather you be safe than sorry.
Let us know how things turn out, ok? We all are rooting for you, and hope that you can soon report good results.

--strange posture caused by favoring a tender tummy or some other part
--dehydrated kidneys or urinary tract infection
--stress alone causing lower back tension

I am glad someone can relate to the feeling I had... and I say had because I don't feel it today. I did not take my metformin last night or this morning becuase I just called the refill this morning and I have not gone to pick them up. So I am taking them this afternoon and tonight, if I get this feeling again, I will know that it was the increase in dosage. I know that feeling because that is the feeling (ovary pain)I would get when I took clomid years ago. I am not going to call my Dr. until I fiigure it out for sure.
By the way, I have a question for you or our moderator:
The pharmacist asked if I wanted to take 2 @ 500mg. or 1 @ 1000mg. and I said I did not know. Taking the two for the last couple of days brought me no side effects. Should I try the 1000mg. so that it will only be one a day.
Please advise.
Thanks
Selina

(C'mon girls sing with me..."Just a spoon full of splenda helps the medicine go down....! )
If you are on a 1000 mg per day dose i would take 1- 500 twice a day to spread out the effects to your insulin over the whole day. But if your total dose is 2000 mg then 2- 1000 tablets will work out fine, provided the coating helps you out.
What dose are you on, Selina?

I am on 500 mg. ----remember me I have not had an af in 9 years (only with provera) so hopefully this little weird pain I feel is a period wanting to come on.
I love your pictures..it's so nice to put a face to a name.
Pippa....hopefully the pain or weird feeling you have is a sign of o'ing. The last time I did was 9 years ago I have a very young daughter who gets her period on the dot every month and hates it and does not understand why I don't, I guess she'll have to get a little older to understand.
Selina

IF that is the case, then you need to take 2 - 500's...one in the morning and one at night. Otherwise you won't be spreading the drug out in your bloodstream. If you take your whole dose in one shot on regular gluc, your level will be too high right after you take it (can cause blood sugar concerns for some and some ladies have tummy troubles when they double up a dose). Then subsequently, the level of drug will drop too early in the day, and your hormones aren't been regulated later in the day. You need to try and spread your daily dose out over the whole day. Clear as mud?!
(Glad you liked the pictures. )
Hope this answers your question...thanks for posting!
