Default Which form of Met do you take?

I'll (hopefully) be starting metformin soon and was wondering what form most people take. I've had problems with generics in the past and would like to get an idea if that could possibly be a problem with met, too.

Has anyone had a problem with generic forms?

I talk the generic metformin er. I have fewer tummy problems w/it, but I am trying to get my dr to let me take the regular mmetformin.

I have somewhere around here that different manufacturers make met that may work better for different people. Manufacturer A may make a met better suited to yoou than Manufacturer B.... Don't know about all that, but it is a thought

I take generic Metformin ER 1000 mg daily. I haven't had any problems with it. I had to switch to this because I couldn't remember taking my regular pills. lol

I take generic metformin, and so does my mother (who's type 2 diabetic). She's had Glucophage before, and I don't think she had any problems switching. I've had a few tummy oobles since I've increased my dose to 2000 mg (half in morning, half at night), but other than that it doesn't cause me any problems and seems to work okay.

I took 1500 mg reg met before my first and second son. But now that my second is born and I went back on, I started having prob with the reg, so my DR switched me to Met er and I seem to be doing better with it, less se.

I just started taking the generic form, but I always do better on generics than on the name brands. I think it depends on whatever works better for your body. Good Luck!

I'm taking glucophage. I live on a small island and my pharmacist rarely uses generic brands (not really sure why) but I'm not having too many issues so far. That could be because i'm only up to the 500mg dose in the evening. I'm upping my dose to 1000mg tomorrow.

Metformin 750MG ER twice a day. I think the ER form is easier on the tummy as far as side effects go.

I take the generic met er 500mg 2x day. One in the morning and one in the evening and I had nausea for the 1st month (which is normal due to your body getting used to the hormonal changes) and after that so far so good.

Generic Met for me. I sometimes have nausea when I don't eat w/Met but usually no diarrhea unless it's Met made by a different company than the one I was taking before.
