Don't mean to butt in, saw the post when I clicked for new posts. I currently take Fortamet ER (2000mg). The doctor I go to specifically for PCOS (along with my RE) both recommend this over generic met as it seems to be a lot easier on the stomach. I've been on it since August and haven't had any problems. I also just started taking Braggs (yesterday) at lunch and dinner. I've heard great things about apple cider vinegar, not just for insulin resistance.
oh no thats no problem Michele I thought that it was actually a great idea. by the way i thought that you where not taking fortamet ER anymore lol oops! Soon I will be giving braggs a shot see how that works out for me. talk to you soon~

Courtney: Still on it, I thought my OB was going to take me off when I got pregnant (esp. since the Perinatologist recommended against it) but she has allowed me to keep taking it.
LFH16: Metformin is the generic name for Fortamet, Glugophage etc. Fortamet and Glucophage are the brand names. There might be a small difference in chemical structure (which could account for why one brand name met works better for some people than another one would). The extended release is supposed to be a lot easier on the stomach.
ETA: There are supposed to be a ton of health benefits to apple cider vinegar (do a search here and on the net, you'll bring up a lot of info) but it helps rid the body of toxins and aids in digestion. It's my understanding that it helps speed metabolism. You don't have to take Bragg's there are others out there, Trader Joe's makes one. Just don't get the Heinz ACV, it's not true ACV

Met is the same as fortamet, it's just a matter of who is making the drug.
I think what you want to look for in ACV is unfiltered. I know Heinz ACV isn't true apple cider vinegar. It doesn't have to be Braggs. There are a ton of threads on here on ACV, do a search.
