Default Foundations/Powder?

I have been having the hardest time trying to find a good foundation or powder that won't turn into an oil slick by 10 am. I've tried Clinique with no success; I love Mary Kay products, but the foundations and powders still make me break out. What have you all found that has worked GREAT? Mineral powder?

I've gotten my acne pretty much under control now, but even before I did (and now when I have occasional flare-ups), I find that Neutrogena Mineral Sheers works best for me. It keeps my normally oily skin dry all day, the coverage is fantastic and lasts all day, and it looks really natural. It is in powder form, and comes in a little clear plastic box with a brush attached. You just shake it down and then swirl it on.

HTH and hope you find something that works for you!

I've used bare minerals for about a year now. The positives are that it has never caused me to break out and it looks really natural. It also seems to absorb a lot of oil. The negatives are that it doesn't always cover red pimples or acne scars completely. (it does dull them down, but you can still see them a bit) Also I need to reapply before the end of the day.

I've given up on finding a powder or foundation that will cover some of the acne and that will help control the oil. No matter what I use it looks greasy 15 minutes later.

My saving grace has been these:

AmazonAmazon
They sop up the oil really well, and they don't mess up your makeup. I use 2-3 of them per day. You can buy them at Walgreens, Target, Walmart, etc. There are some store brands of them too which work just as well.

I have very oily skin in some areas of my face. I've been really happy with bare minerals from bare escentuals. I use their mineral foundation and mineral veil finishing powder. I use the mineral veil powder for oil reducing touchups late in the day. I originally got samples on ebay to try before plunging in for all of the products.

i get a lot of compliments and i use maybelline matte mousse. its awesome imo. then i use cover girl powder over it...not the round compact, but the square one. its probably more than i need, but it gives me good coverage and keeps my oily skin at bay.

good luck! my mom uses bare minerals and loves it too. i can't afford it, or i'd be on that train!!!

I use Bare Minerals. I will never, ever use another face make-up after using the B.M. You can adjust your coverage by adding more or less without it lookey/feeling cakey. It covers my pimples and scars very well. It helps with the oiliness very well. I also have very dry skin which it seems to work well with. But by the end of the day I am an oil slick because of how dry I am but not with the BM. I also don't need to reapply the makeup like I would have to with other brands. It stays on all day, and looks fresh all day. It does not break me out or irritate my skin. I just love it!

I use Everyday Minerals and won't go back to liquid foundation after this..it covers all my areas good, sometimes pimples will show through but that is taken care of with more application (I keep a small brush and tin of the foundation in my purse). It doesn't clog pores and it has zinc in it to help heal acne.

I never really wear make-up because it causes me to break out. The last time I wore any kind of makeup I ended up with 3 huge cold sores around my mouth and some pretty monstrous zits within hours of putting it on. I had a staff photo done at work last week and I have moderate acne and my skin is pretty oily in some areas (especially my nose). The cosmetician I went to see recommended a line called Marcelle, it's hypoallergenic and gives pretty good coverage (and not super expensve either). I bought this tinted moisturizer and I've worn it twice now and no break outs and it seemed to mask the oily pretty good.

Have you tried using a very small brush and dabbing the bare minerals foundation or concealer on the zit before applying it all over your face? That is what works the best for me. I put it on right after my moisturizer and it seems to do the trick.

To answer the OP, I have used Bare Minerals for several years now (4 or 5). I love it and it doesn't cause me to break out at all. If you don't like the coverage with the first coat, you can reapply. It doesn't feel like I am wearing makeup, and I actually get compliments on my skin.

So Bare Minerals seems to be the people's choice! I know I can get it on line, but I am HORRIBLE at matching my skin tone...how do I know what shade to get?

I have been using Loreals version of mineral makeup-I thought I would try it before buying one of the more expensive ones and I like it pretty well-I have also tried Physicians formulas version-but hated it

I don't know how much Loreal costs, but I get my Bare Minerals off of ebay and get it at great prices, especially when you purchase the larger sizes.

The bare minerals website has a section that can help you find your color. The kit also comes with two different foundation shades so that you can get a really good match. I got the fairly light/light shades. The light is a wee bit too much color for me, so with the next order, I can either get two of the same colors or something else. I opted to try the fair and fairly light. I'll see how that goes. When you mix the two colors you get a good match and can't tell there is a difference so really for me it didn't waste my money on the wrong color.

So basically to sum it up, I needed to go a shade lighter than I thought I would be.
