You know, when I was younger I never considered myself a freak. It wasn't until I started seeing more images in the media of what women are supposed to be that I became more aware of my so-called freakishness. I think REAL women are all the things we are... You know, we worry so much about excess hair and whether our vaginas are attractive enough. Seriously, what are we comparing ourselves to? Playboy's airbrushed pinups?
Now, when I want to compare my looks to another woman, I look at REAL woman... People I see on the street, in grocery stores, and at clubs. Even the ones that I think are beautiful (and guys are attracted to), if you look real close, you see a stray hair on their chin or upper lip, stretch marks, etc.
I think one of the most eye opening experiences for me came when I was 19 and went to a strip club with my boyfriend (now DH) and some of his friends. Of course they were all drooling over the dancers, and I sat in disbelief as I saw these women who were very pretty, yet if you looked you saw stretch marks, birth marks, a little cellulite, etc.
