Well - I have had a couple of weeks of big celebrations (mine and DHs birthdays) and have drunk (to excess on two occasions) whilst taking metformin.
Really silly, I know - especially as I haven't been drunk for AGES!
I woke up after being out last night feeling very hot, dehydrated and with cramps in my calves. I am now convinced I have the signs of lactic acidosis.
Would I know about it by now from having had too many drinks last night? I've read too much about it - and am working myself up majorly.
I'd imagine you probably just wore your body out last night, whether it be from all the drinking or anything physical you may have done (like dancing), or a combination... My advice is just to drink as much water as possible and take it easy today... if you're still feeling badly Monday call and ask the doc.
Cycle Two - May 30 Metformin 1500mg Prometrium 400mg Clomid 100mg BUST
Cycle Three - (Final cycle if no ovulation To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ) Metformin 1500mg Prometrium 400mg Clomid 150mg
My doc says that LA is very rare - but I agree with the PP - it is most likely a combo of a hangover and exhaustion. Drink lots of fluids and see how you feel tomorrow. I completely understand your freaking out though - I have self diagnosed myself with lactic acidosis fifty times

I agree with the previous posts, you seem to have just upset your system. Alcohol consumption is a nono while on Met. Drink lots of water and rest, but see your doctor if it persists. Hope you feel better soon.
dehydration causes leg cramps. Everything is most likely bc of dehydration. You should eat some burnt toast, yes burnt toast, because the charcoal gets rid of the toxins in the stomach kinda like when you get your stomach pumped they give you charcoal, same thing on a home based level. Like they said drink lots and lots and lots of water can't stress it enough, drink maybe one gatorade get some electrolytes back in your body. Check your temperature to make sure you don't have a bad fever, put a cool rag on your head or back of your neck is better to cool your body temperature. If the symptoms don't go away after 24-36 hours I would call a doctor immediately just because dehydration is nothing to mess around with especially if you have the side effects of metformin like diarrhea (which I find is worse when drinking), so yea, get some rest! I hope to hear a good update sometime soon!

Thank you ladies - I've been guzzling water, had some burnt toast and feel a lot better today.
Moral of the story: avoid drinking OR plan it carefully and skip the evening dose. Seriously, the hangover is one thing - but the angsting over giving myself LA was entirely another. Just not worth it!!
Back to normal tomorrow with gym, water and healthy food...
Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest...happy Sunday!
So glad to hear you are feeling better - and believe me, the longer you worry about it, the worse you would have felt :o)
