Default Free Testosterone Level question

I just got my results back from the doctor, they had tested my free testosterone level and the results back back at 0.7, the nurse said it was normal, normal being from 0.0-2.2. I'm just wondering, if my level is so normal and low, then why do I still experience all of the excess hair? I just don't get that. I thought the testosterone fueled the male hair growth, but my level is so low and I still have it, alot! Anyone have any input?

Is your DHEAS high? My free testerone is now normal, but my DHEAS is still way high and I still have hair. My endo is testing me to see if I have something else along with PCOS & hypothyroid.

I've read that often times it could be a sensitivity to DHT (some kind of testosterone related hormone-ish type thing...scientific, I know! ) that causes the hair issues. You may be within the normal range, just more sensitive to it?

But even if your androgens are normal, you may develop hirsutism because your body is overly sensitive to hormones. And some women who have normal androgens and don’t have PCOS will develop excessive hair. This is called "idiopathic" hirsutism, meaning the cause is unknown.
