Question free testosterone question

hi there,

i recently had some blood tests done to see where i am with my levels, though they left out the most important ones it seems - the LH and FSH readings. (some of you might've already seen my post about this in the metformin section)

anyway, i have a question about my free testosterone. the nurse called on behalf of my obgyn and told me that my free testosterone is 3.9. she told me that normal ranges are 0.1 to 6.4. however, i've just read up about the ranges and it says it should be .7 to 3.6.

i'm very confused now about what the nurse was talking about - do you think she was mistaken?

i was overjoyed for a moment thinking that it was in normal range.

anyone got any ideas? i am getting SOOOOOOOOOO frustrated with my doctors! i really wish i could get some support. it feels like a battle because my obgyn didn't even want to do the tests in the first place.

Since no one else has answered, I'll do what I can for ya

From what I've read, the scale that most doctors and labs use right now for testosterone in women is way too high. I wish I had proper references to that info for you, but sadly I don't remember where I read it. They spoke of how doctors "in the know" are trying to get labs to change these values, but labs are notoriously difficult on these sorts of matters. If I find that material, I'll certainly pass it on.

But hey, take comfort that even on the conservative scale you are only a tiny bit high. The last time my free testosterone was checked years ago it was high for a man Imagine that!
