Talking FRIENDLY REMINDER ---> No selling or trading meds on the board!

Hi all -

I just wanted to post a friendly reminder that we can't trade or sell medications on the board (it's not legal).

Thanks for understanding!

Does that mean that you can't give it away since technically that's not trading or selling?

Not a problem...I wasn't directing it at anyone specific...

But, yes..you can add "give-away" to the list of 'no-no's' on the board...

Thanks!

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't it illegal to share prescription medications?

With all the medications I take, I always receive a printed sheet from my pharmacy that says it's illegal for prescription medication to be used by anyone else besides the person for whom it was prescribed.

I think that would mean giving, selling, trading, bartering, etc. would all be, as Kat says, "No no's".

Thumbs up

I've been wondering about whether or not it's legal (or even a good idea) to share/sell/trade medication over the internet. Thanks for the info Kat.

I'm not sure if this would be ok... What about donating drugs to a DR's office... the Dr. could then prescribe them to his patient...

If that's legal... then perhaps this could aid a few... Anyhow... Good luck all!

Yes, it is illegal to buy, sell, trade, give away, or anything otherwise w/prescription meds, noone can take them except the person they were prescribed for. OTC meds are okay, they are for everyone, you take them at your own risk, so no it is not illegal for someone to give you some of their otc meds, but prescriptions are a "no no."

Also, I think that donating them to a Dr's office for the docs to give out to "needy" patients is a good idea, but probably can't be done for security reasons. Unless they are sealed by the company bottles w/the seals still on...otherwise there is no way for them to know if the meds have been tampered with. It's too bad things have to be so expensive...people need meds and can't afford them w/no insurance...I have been there! And sometimes they can't even afford them w/insurance...like my dad for ex. he has well over $400 a month in copays for rx's

Do you know if donating the meds to your RE's office is legal? I have alot of Gonal-F that I probably won't use and am thinking of donating it to my RE, but if it's not legal, I won't even initiate that (need to keep my record squeaky clean for future employment). It would just be a sad waste to throw it out since there are so many people who pay for this stuff out of pocket.

PS whatever company makes Gonal F sure must be rich! I can't believe you can't reset the pen if you lock it on the wrong dose. You just have to squirt the dose out and start a new pen!

I don't know for sure... but this would be my logic... if the bottles are sealed... then they are ok... and the DR... would be prescribing them to his/her next patient... so there would be no illegal usage... Call your RE and ask... they'll let you know!

If you have meds that you can no longer use, take them to your pharmacy for proper disposal.

I'm not sure what the laws are in the states, but here (Canada) once a drug has been dispensed, the pharmacy can't take it back and give it to anyone else. I don't think you can take them back to your doctor either, unless they're still sealed ....but I"m not even sure about that. No harm in asking...

My RE's office has a list you can put your name on for meds you are "selling or donating". I called a few people on there who were selling their meds and bought it from them. I also listed my clomid for donation to those who have no insurance coverage for meds.

I know at freegaragesale.com you can sell/trade/donate meds. I bought a lot off there and also donated some to people. I guess its a personal decision.

And I suppose if selling fertility drugs were illegal this site would be closed down (freegaragesale I mean, not SC)
