Hi stars,
I had to wait 6 weeks to see my internist before I was able to get diagnosed with PCOS, so you're not the only one and I know what you're going through. It's hard to have to wait SO long to see a doctor when you are already worried about your health. I guess you can look at it this way, though...the doctor you're waiting to see MUST be a pretty darn good one if the soonest his/her office can get you in for an appt. is TWO months from now!
If you do in fact have PCOS and truly want to become healthier, making some lifestyle changes will be NECESSARY for recovery....and that means improving your diet and exercising. There's no getting around it, even if you are prescribed metformin or bcp's. However, it doesn't have to be overwhelming...most of the women here have had success making small changes one at a time to get to where they need to be. I'm not sure what you mean when you describe yourself as a picky eater, but surely there must be some healthy foods out there that you DO like. And you may find that as you lay off the simple carbs and sugars from your diet, the fruits, vegetables, and healthy proteins will begin to taste better to you. Believe me, I understand your frustration, as being diagnosed with PCOS can be very scary at first and seemingly difficult to recover from.
As for the stomach upset after meals, I was experiencing that, too, before I got serious about my diet. Taking probiotics helped me a lot with that symptom, as well as not eating as many carbs and sugars. You'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel after making just a few adjustments to your diet.
Good luck to you and I do hope that you'll be feeling better soon! |
