Default Frustrated...scared....just emotional

So I haven't been officially diagnosed with pcos yet but it explains all the symptoms that I've had since my mid-teens. I finally made myself call the endo today and the first available appointment they had was February 17th. I knew it was going to be a wait but I didn't realize it would be that long. I got myself so worked up about calling and making the appointment that now that I know its 2 months away I just feel like...i dont know....drained? I'm scared to go to the appointment; I've always hated going to the doctor...even just for a flu shot or when I KNOW that I have a sinus infection I dread it and get so worked up throughout the whole day before the appointment.
I want to go though, so I can be officially diagnosed and start treatments. But the more I read about the medications and diet and stuff the more upset I get. I know I"m going to have to change my diet but it's so hard cause I"m a wicked picky eater as it is. I guess I'll just have to make myself eat stuff that I don't like. I don't know. Oh and that's the other thing...has anyone noticed that after they eat they feel really sick? I've noticed that over the past month or so after I eat, no matter what or how much, I feel sick and like I can feel something in my throat? I don't know that doesn't really make sense.
Just tired and emotional and I don't really want to deal with this too on top of everything else in my life. It's tough cause none of my friends understand why I get upset about pcos and stuff.

Hi There. Trust me I know what your feeling and am going through the same thing. I am ttc and just found out last month. So many questions, worries and am feeling very frustrated myself. I guess though the good news is we found out and are on our way to becoming more healthy and that is a good thing. Good luck and try and remain positive! I am trying too

Hi stars,

I had to wait 6 weeks to see my internist before I was able to get diagnosed with PCOS, so you're not the only one and I know what you're going through. It's hard to have to wait SO long to see a doctor when you are already worried about your health. I guess you can look at it this way, though...the doctor you're waiting to see MUST be a pretty darn good one if the soonest his/her office can get you in for an appt. is TWO months from now!

If you do in fact have PCOS and truly want to become healthier, making some lifestyle changes will be NECESSARY for recovery....and that means improving your diet and exercising. There's no getting around it, even if you are prescribed metformin or bcp's. However, it doesn't have to be overwhelming...most of the women here have had success making small changes one at a time to get to where they need to be. I'm not sure what you mean when you describe yourself as a picky eater, but surely there must be some healthy foods out there that you DO like. And you may find that as you lay off the simple carbs and sugars from your diet, the fruits, vegetables, and healthy proteins will begin to taste better to you. Believe me, I understand your frustration, as being diagnosed with PCOS can be very scary at first and seemingly difficult to recover from.

As for the stomach upset after meals, I was experiencing that, too, before I got serious about my diet. Taking probiotics helped me a lot with that symptom, as well as not eating as many carbs and sugars. You'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel after making just a few adjustments to your diet.

Good luck to you and I do hope that you'll be feeling better soon!
